Happy weekend to all. I'm happily in NAS Whidbey Island, WA visiting my son and his wife for Thanksgiving! They both look so good. I have much to give thanks for this Thanksgiving. Best to all.

I've learned from my son that every day is a test: a test of patience, a test of knowledge, a test of performance, a test of risks, and a test of courage. And like our pilots, so too does every family go through these tests. My prayers, thoughts a...

Mary, thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this sad time. And my prayers, too, to all those at Ft. Hood. These are very trying times.

DJ: good to Winston finally has a date for winging. What a wonderful time you'll have and we'll be thinking of you while we're all the way north in WA celebrating Thanksgiving with my son and his wife. His jet (Ea-6b) carrier quals and deployment ...

Alli ... congrats to Gavin! But in my book, a wait till assignment/deployment is good. I'm ecstatic that my son's carrier and quals were delayed from Sept to Dec with deployment now early next year rather than Oct. I know he's trained for it, but ...

Andrea - congratulations on this special event. It is certainly special to see your child flying such an expensive aircraft. But, it definitely has to be so much more when it's your daughter!!! Give her our best wishes on her accomplishments. I w...

Hi Diane R! So, your son is an EA6B pilot at NAS Whidbey Island WA! NAS Whidbey was our son's first duty station after A school at Pensacola FL. Mike's an aviation electrician, and has recently transferred from the USS Stennis to his new command at Whidbey Island. He's attending instructor duty school for the next two weeks at Bangor WA, and afterwards will become an instructor at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit on Whidbey. My husband and I really enjoyed our visit with Mike and our grandson in July when the Stennis returned to homeport at Bremerton WA. Now, we're looking forward to our next visit with them at Whidbey Island...although we have no idea when that trip will take place. I posted some pics on my site from that trip; you're certainly welcome to view them.

What squadron is Paul stationed with at Whidbey? Mike was with the VAQ-142 during his first tour of duty at Whidbey. I think he still stays in touch with some of those guys. Mike's been in the Navy for 12 yrs now, and is always looking forward to expanding his knowledge and career with the Navy.

hopefully Jim and his wife Kate will be moved in by Thanksgiving. As you well know ,the Navy doesn't do anything by our schedule. When we know a definate date, I will let you know-it would be nice if everyone could get together. My husband and I will not be going out to Oak Harbor till the spring of next year. maybe sometime if we all are in the same place at the same time we can get together.

Diane we definately need to keep in touch-My son Jim will be there with his wife around Oct(you know how the Navy works with dates!) His house is in Oak Harbor, and my husband has said he wouldn't mind retiring there. We will probably be going out there late Spring or early summer of next year. Jim is going to try to come home for the holidays with his wife as they haven't been home in a year and a half! We promised to visit them next year , so if you go out there we can get together. They will be there for 2 or 3 years I guess.,so at some point ,we might be there at the same time! Keep in touch

Hi Diane my son will be returning to NAS Whidbey, probably in Oct.He will be involved in the Tactics school and the new Growler. He was stationed there a few years ago, and has a house in Oak Harbor. What a beautiful place it is and very different from Long Island where we are from!

Well, Diane. A pilot! We are destined to support each other. Walt is an AZ who is very proud that the pilots in his squad are climbing into jets that will get them home again.

I have been to airwarriors before , but it's not for me. The guys are talking pretty rough , you know how guys can banter back and forth. So, I stay away from there. lol!! It sounds like your son is having a great career. Conor is probably going to Corpus Christi, Tx. and is ok with that. Thanks for all your help and for ' being my friend ' .
