Sigh, it isn't good news. I'm assuming they have permission from the Navy. Marriage and nukes is looked at very strictly from a security standpoint. If they do not have permission, there is a chance they could lose their clearances and their scho...

Unfortunately the Navy never guarantees that husband and wife will be together. My son is married but his wife is a civilian, that's a quite different situation. Maybe someone else has more info.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To ask questions. They can not anticipate every question so if you have a question you need to be proactive and ask.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

KellyAnn flew home for Christmas.

She surprised us on Tuesday. I had no idea she was coming home. She is here until January 3! It is great to see our Nuke and she looks great. Everything is going great except the Christmas present fiasco. We sent them to A school so she would have them for Christmas and she didn't get them and now she has very little to open.

Congrats to your daughter! Does she already have a college degree or will she be going through the STA-21 program?

We have a daughter in Goose Creek also. She is half way through power school. Coincidentally, we also lived in Naperville for a time. The biggest thing we have in common though - is missing our girls. I am right there with you and I understand the good day/ bad day idea. They are under a lot of pressure and I think their emotions are somewhat contagious. Unfortunately, I find that sometime she bounces back and moves right along to the next test or the next challenge and I don't! The nuclear field is very limited as to what info they can pass along or share too. Although very necessary, it can make you feel the distance even more acutely when there are so many things she can't talk about. Our pride almost always trumps the sadness but once in a while I get a little misty too. Hang in there.

Hi Dianne,
Hope you are having a great Memorial Day. I am counting down the days until we leave to see Rich. How is KellyAnne? Rich is finally over Pneumonia and visiting his sister in New York this weekend.

Hi Dianne,
Glad to have you as a friend. Since we live so close I would love to get together and have coffee or something. I work at Aurora Chrisitan High School and we are on our spring break. I have free time this week. Let me know if this is something you could do.

Dianne, So glad you are planning to go to Galena. Gretchen from St. Charles and Nancy Jean from Bartlett are going too. So that makes 4 of us! When it gets closer to the event I'll PM you my phone number and finalize plans. Sounds like a really fun day and can't wait to meet you in person. Pat

Hi Dianne, The IL moms have scheduled a meet and greet for March 21 in Galena. There are 4 of us in this area so I'm floating the idea. Would you be interested? I'll drive. Think about it and let me know. Pat
