Hi Dianne,
Do you visit this site very often? I do occasionally.
I was wondering if you have any desire to make a visit to Guam next year this time? I would love to go, but am looking for someone to travel with.

Did I tell you that my daughter was expecting? She had her baby 8 weeks early. He was due on Haloween and she went into labor on Labor Day. Joshua did develop an intestinal infection and was in the NICU for 33 days. It is a joy to finally have him at home and we are praying for him and all of us to stay healthy this fall & winter.

Is anything new with you?

Take care,
Jane

Hi Dianne,
I haven't been on this site for awhile, so thought I would send you a message from it. I had the rare opportunity to speak with Sean on Saturday evening. This is only the second time we have talked since he has been back in Guam. He has been back for over three weeks, but it seems like a whole lot longer.
He has been extremely busy. Has been working a lot of 15 to 17 hour days. He has only had two days off since he has been back.
He attends a small church near the base when he isn't working. About 15 military and 15 Chamarrons (native Guamanese). He has attended a larger church, but it is a 40 minute drive.

He did tell me that he knows who your son is, but has never spoken to him. They normally have a welcoming ceremony for the new guys.

Did you have a nice weekend? Was the weather nice? Ours was beautiful.

The Beth Moore Conference was great. She had a good message and the music was awesome...especially for the closing on Sat. Have you ever been to a Women of Faith Conference? This was like a small scale Women of faith Conference.

Our church is having VBS this week, so today was a little on the chaotic side.
I have a few things to do before I can leave today...so I better get busy. I am having two ladies over this evening, so I have some last minute things to do once I get home.

Take Care,
Jane

Hi Dianne,
Have you heard from your son much this past week? Is he getting settled in?
Does your older son and his family live near you?
Did you have a nice Memorial Day? I worked around the house and in my vegetable garden. I also swam at The Wellness Center. I have a three month membership and it expires the end of May. I have really enjoyed going there to exercise. My grandson goes there to "bootcamp" (kids fitness) twice a month and he started swimming lessons last week.
Well, I am tired so, I'm heading to bed soon.

Dianne,
My son had his truck and all his belongings shipped through the Navy from CT to Guam, so it did not cost him anything. When he arrived in Guam, he had to wait about three weeks for everything to get there. So, he had to go and buy towels, sheets, a bathing suit, toilitries, etc. That upset me.
Even though the island is small, he said that you do need a vehicle to get around.

We took him to the airport EARLY this morning, so I am very tired now. My daughter wants me to go shopping with her tonight....and I hate to tell her no.
I will definately e-mail you either today or tomorrow...I can tell you some things about the sub that we are not to mention on this web-site.

Do you have any other children? Do you work outside the home?

I am a church secretary at a baptist church and have a 28 yr. old daughter who is expecting for the second time. My first grandchild just truned three and lives only one mile away...so I feel very blessed.
I need to get busy.
Take Care,
Jane

Dianne,
My son has only lived off base for a few months, but does seem to like it. He is 8 miles from the base. yes, he does have a truck. He had it shipped there from Groton, CT--his last place of schooling before he left for Guam. He still eats a lot of meals on the sub. but cooks about twice a week. He bought a dresser and may buy more furniture for his bedroom. I'll have to send you some photos of Guam. Will you send me your e-mail address, please? I can also tell you a little more info about things through e-mail. Mine is: abntlife@verizon.net

Hope you are having a good day,
Jane

Hi Dianne,
My son has been in Guam and on The Houston for almost 17 months. He loves the warm weather in Guam---86 and sunny most every day. He got certified in diving and has enjoyed doing that in some of his free time. He and two of his shipmates recently began renting a house. Once you reach a certain rank, you must leave base and find other housing. Not enough housing on the base.
Actually, my son is home on a two week visit until Friday morning. This is his first time home since arriving there. Back in Nov. he and one shipmate were sent to Norfolk for four days for training on equipment. We were able to meet him there and visit with him.
He has a pay as you go phone, and it is expensive to make calls. He doesn't e-mail very often. He has a little less than three years left in his contract.
We aren't to say anything about the sub on e-mail....but the crew recently finished painting some of it. That was hard work. If you have some specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Hi Dianne, dont know if youfound the discussion of Div 050 Ship14 yet, but if you go to my page and look at my recent activities it should be highlighted there. There are a few moms there with kids from 050. Hope you have had a great weekend. Are we going into week 3 already?

Hi, got a call last week and a letter yesterday. I really hang on to the letters. I read them over and over. Lokked at the weather report for chicago and it say 36 degrees!! I start getting cold at 75! when I asked justin if he was alright with the cold weather he just sighed and told me that the navy did give him a jacket. I dont think he will ever learn that I wont stop worrying.

Hi saw your comment about your son being in 050. My son is also in 050. I have meet up with 3 other moms with kids in ship 14, but you are the first from the same division.
