About me:
I am a proud Navy Mom!!! My son, Austin (21) has been in the navy for almost 2 years. Austin is stationed on the USS Donald Cook DDG - 75.
He is a DCFN.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Austin's ship the USS Donald Cook left this morning 7/20/09 for its 6 month deployment. I am having kind of a hard time dealing with it. This is the first 6 month deployment he has been on. Just sad that we could not be there for him at port to see his ship off. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Donita..Welcome to the USS Donald Cook Group..My son Eric is an FC on the ship..The group was created by Jackie but really helps to keep us updated. I understand about how far away Texas is. My sister goes to Houston every 4 months from SC to MD Anderson. I spent 2 weeks there 3 years ago as a care giver for her when she was undergoing treatment for cancer..She has been in remission for 3 years..3 wonderful years..Great hospital you have there ..Austin sounds so familiar to me..

Donita, Eric is a FC. This is also our first deployment. I know they are working really hard. I have sent Eric one package so far and it took about 2 weeks to get there.

Hi Donita, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my son Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What is your son/daughter doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your Sailor. Pat
