Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Thinking about joining
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Go with the flow. When your sailor tells you they get to come home on leave don't get too excited until you actually see them .Navy has a way with changing orders at last minute.Every time they call pick up that phone and listen to everything they have to say.You never know when they will get deployed.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

WHAT TEACHERS MAKE

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." To stress his point he said to another guest, "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?"

Bonnie, who had a… Continue

Dear Donna,
I have to tell you my latest news. I put this on the Texas Moms page already, so I'm copying it for you in case you haven't had time to read it yet.

I told you at the get together that my son was being deployed in January and that we would not be able to see him before he leaves. He doesn't have leave to come home before then or for Christmas. My husband is unemployed, and we've used up our savings. So we can't go up to Norfolk to visit.

The most amazing thing happened to me Friday Dec. 18. I teach 2nd grade at a parochial school in Keller. My students' parents found out about Chris being deployed and that we cannot afford to see him before he leaves. They decided to collect donations for an all-expense paid trip for me to go to Norfolk to see him for four days during my Christmas break. They even got the school administration involved. Between the room moms and the principal, they emailed and gather donations from all the second grade parents, some grandparents who heard about this, parents from other grades, and the faculty and staff members. Donations came from people I don't even know. I had no clue this was going on until they surprised me during my class Christmas party on Friday. There must have been 60 people in my classroom during the last half of my Christmas party. The room moms made a presentation and handed me a wrapped box. Inside were my plane tickets, hotel reservations, and a check to cover the hotel, rental car and any other expenses I would encounter.

It was unbelievable! I was so shocked and stunned. I cannot wait to travel to Norfolk! I will be gone from Dec. 30 to Jan. 3. So keep my travels and visit in your prayers, please. I worry about the weather.
