I saw your post about moving to Everett. Currently the Lincoln is in the shipyard, which is located in Bremerton. From what I understand the sailors commute every day. With that said, you should live in Everett because drydock is only temporary- I think they will be done by mid-winter. NSE has its own housing, which can be found here:
http://www.navylifepnw.com/site/351/NSE-Housing.aspx
I currently live in Forest City, but on NBK, and the houses are pretty nice.
The nice thing about housing in Everett is they sponsor the rental partnership program, so if you prefer not to live in base housing they will still assist you in finding a rental and some of the deposits will be waived :).
I have been a Navy spouse for 4 years and we have done 3 moves, so please let me know if you have questions.

Hi, saw your post about living in Everret, my BEST advice is....You need to get info from the BASE on recommended housing! Until something on base or near base comes up!!! The military does pay for your move!!!!! You can do a "dity" move ASK ASK AND THEN ASK again, save ALL receipts...ALL!!! You will be surprised how fast you will have a place to live!!! the navy will assist you and your family with your needs. But you need to ask questions!!! whoops said it again...Good LUCK!♥

Hi Liz,
Thank you for the apt. info. Maybe I can get hubby to try and go check it out. He doesn’t have a car yet. Transportation is a problem and he would want to check out schools and surrounding areas.
When we moved in to the house we live in now we realized after the fact that the neighborhood was really bad. We are not going to make that mistake again. I wish I could just pick a date and move. But the problem is, my in-laws own the house we are in. And we have a financial and moral obligation to stay here until we can find someone to move in and pay rent. (can’t just leave them high and dry with a huge mortgage payment). Our situation really sucks. I have been hoping and praying that God will just release me from this burden and help prepare a place for us in GL. I watch drug dealers go up and down my street all day and night.
Now that Jason is in the Navy I can finally look forward to the future and dream of other places to live. I can’t wait to be together again.
Keep me posted. Talk to you soon. Mary

Hi Liz, glad you found me. How are you handling this HEAT? I'm pregnant so it makes it a little harder (don't have AC). My husband has been in GL waiting for classes to start. And he just recently graduated boot camp on May 29. He is in school for AECF. I am anxious to leave California but we haven't made any arrangements yet. Hubby just got his 2nd liberty. We don’t really have choice. It’s seems like the Navy isn’t in a hurry to help move families together. My husband is struggling with the whole process. There is a lot involved in moving a family up to GL. We figured it would probably be best to stay here at least until the new baby is born in August.
What does IC stand for? Will your husband be in school for a long time?
Talk to you soon. Mary

he will have to go to the PPO after finding out if he qualifies, and set up a move date for which the movers will come and pack up all your stuff and ship it out.
you can do a partial diddy move, go to a weigh station and weigh your car with NOTHING in it, no car seats or anything. then pack up what you will need for the first few days until your stuff gets there, and you can then drive here, move in. he will then have to apply for live ashore thru his ship (which ship is he on?) and then go to the PSD and go to the Travel office and put in for the moving money back...OH YAH partial diddy move continued...once you get here DONT unpack, go to another weigh station and weigh your car. keep track of the miles you do. when he goes to the PSD he will have to turn the weigh slips in to get money back.

hey! well Chip put in for his orders yesterday and should be done by next thursday and grad next friday (if he stays on track haha), in his orders he request Site TV C School up here, or Mayport. hes not guaranteed a C School. oh well! ok go to www.ahrn.com and sign up with all Ryans info. it will help you find a place. if Chip gets a C School up here, we will be moving, we found a 2 bedroom, WITH a dishwasher and washer/dryer for $750 a month. so if you dont mind the girls sharing a bedroom i would recommend that place. i will have to check on the name later.
has Ryan started A School yet? is he getting a C School?
CONGRATS on getting married!!!
hmmm on traveling...the drive will be hell...tell him to go to his PLR and ask if he can have his family move up and if he is qualified to live ashore. if they say yes, then they will pay to move all your stuff and pay you guys for driving up here.
do you have facebook? if so you can add me, if not, my number is 941-302-4440 feel free to call me =]]

I went to Groton for my fiance's graduation on April 30th. He came home right after and left on May 10th. He is now in Hawaii and leaves on deployment in a month or so. I won't see him again until around Christmastime and our wedding is hopefully January 2nd.
