Well after 5 yrs, tomorrow is my son's last day on the Carl Vinson.I'm probably sadder than he is--lol.

Heard of the the Enterprise, Nimitz, Roosevelt, Lincoln ect of the newer ships. Heard about lots of the older one. In fact, I had orders for sea duty in 1985 (a time when Marines stood duty on alot of the ships as security) for the Kitty Hawk. Those orders were canceled because she was going into extended dry dock.

Nice to know he has had experience with ship life. During my 20 years in the USMC, I did 2 deployments in 1988 & 1989 on the Peleliu & Belleau Wood. Not carriers but the next thing to a carrier. They were LHA's being replaced by LHD's, carried mostly helecopters but also had the AVA8 Harriers. Who knows what they carry now!
