I totally agree with you Julie. This was a harsh but important lesson for her. I have told her that I am proud of the way she has handled it and that she has been able to call on her strength to move forward. I hope it continues that way.

Thanks Melinda, and don't get me wrong. I had never even heard of "undesignated," and I'm sure it's the right track for many people. THEY (not my daughter or I) have presented it as part of her penalty . . . Thanks for your support - will definite...

Thanks guys ! This support means a lot. She went to Captains Mass yesterday and reports that they were pretty cold and abrupt. She said that it was only one mistake, and they basically said, " How can we trust you if you've made one mistake?" Anyw...

Thanks Julie. I just still can't believe we're going through this. She did so great both in BC and in A school for MA. Three days from graduation, and it all just fell apart with this. Do you think there is any chance they'll "separate" her from t...

Thanks ! I looked up Stephen Bowes answer, and it was helpful. And tomorrow my girl will hear what the scoop is going to be. What does "striking for a rate" mean ?

Okay. We find out tomorrow if my daughter will be undesignated. She is at A school for MA in San Antonio, but she has been de-enrolled based on a single episode related to giving an underaged sailor some alcohol. I, of course, do not know the whol...

My girl was called in for XOI and she had very little opportunity to make her case about how well she's done, only this one mistake, how she's taking responsibility, how it will make her stronger . . and how important the MA is to her and how much...

Hi Ellen - I was just thinking about you and wondering how your daughter was doing. I found you when you were on the San Antonio MA site then again on the Undes site. I think about your daughter a lot. My son did finally graduate (after a few delays) and is a MA on Diego Garcia. He really doesn't like it there but is trying to make the most of it. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi. Hope things are going well. Chantay

I know. She's been great and so proud of her accomplishments. I'm amazed at how she's been able to rise to all of these challenges. She's tiny and was a girl who was very much into makeup, jewelry, and hair before boot camp ! ! She was in one of the 900 groups at BC and has done great all the way through. It just shows that even a small infraction is taken very, very seriously. I hope they will give her a chance. They will not allow her to attend graduation, and I guess that's probably best. But she's just pretty miserable.

Yes, MAA is Master At Arms. You may just find more support there if you'd like. I'll pray they allow her to continue with her dream to be MA. Again, I'm so bummed for you and her! Can't believe they'd take this from her after so much hard and good work!

Hi Ellen - I know a mom on PIR date 2/21 may 09 alumni group who's son is in Groton, her name is Sandi S - Brads mom Div 197. I sent her a message and told her you were on SA MAA's group and would like some information about the base. You can find her on the alumni group page and maybe send her a message. Hope this helps.

Hi Ellen, my friend Trish(almost MIL) said she would love to tell you about the base in Groton. Her soon to be son -in-law Gilbert was stationed there. He is on a sub.I do not think he is a MA, but she can tell you about the base. She said it would be best if you became her friend as she doesn't want to join another group. You can come to my page and scroll down till you see her name and click on it so you can go to her page and make her your friend. Hope you make me your friend too!
I didn't realize you were from Maine. Where? my good friend ( not Navy mom) lives there and her son is a lawyer in Portland.
