My Sailor just brought me all his letters to me during the weekend after PIR. I am not sure they could mail out an envelope like that.
August 1
I believe you can, but mostly everything has to be approved by his RDC. Back when my son was in BC, he didn;t but I know others sent their mail back home.

I am thinking of doing that also... any advice ?

Hopefully, you have received the "form letter" by now that tells your son's address. If not, try calling your recruiter. They can give you the address.

I remember how hard it was when I got "the box" - you will get a letter soon with how to write. I can't stress enough how important it is to the recruits to get letters from home - it means the world to them! Fleetwood - if you want to email me, f...

How old is your son and when did he leave? I drives me crazy not to be able to be able to talk to him, right now that is the worse part.

I love your nickname and the reason for it! That's great!!! My nickname is The Bovanator (last name Bova and then like the Terminator - LOL). A co-worker gave that to me several years ago. Actually my Mom doesn't dance, but my sister was a competitive dancer and then my Mom became the dance coach at Providence and then the cheerleading coach there. I'll mention you and your son in my next letter to DJ. I will write one tonight and tomorrow but since mail doesn't run tomorrow, it won't go out until Monday.

Hello. Thanks for finding me. So far, I've only connected with you and one other Mom from Ship 12, Div 287. We got our box first and then the form letter on Thursday. Was so good to get a note from him. He was funny in his note. He said they told them about Michael Jackson's passing, he said, "Whaaaat, that's crazy". We are recording the specials on DVD for him so he can watch after boot camp. We hope to get a "real letter" soon. I hope you do too. I hope you are hanging in there. I see you are from Providence. My parents & sister used to live in Attleboro, MA. While there, my Mom was the dance team coach and the cheerleading coach for Providence College. My Mom moved back to Indiana after my Dad passed away. My sister is planning a trip back this month to visit with her high school & college friends. Hang in there and we'll talk soon. My name is Paula, is your first name Fleetwood?

Fleetwood, how are my Sistah? I hope this reaches you and all is well! So, your baby left for BC a week ago I know how much you miss him. Kevin, is coming up on 1 year of enlistment at the end of this month and time has flown but when he left for BC I missed him so much I started writing letters the same day he left so when I recieved his address my letters and cards were ready to mail! His RDC told me at graduation your son had so much mail coming in we just started puttting it in alphabetical order and bundled up it for him. Your support is what going to get him through the next weeks so keep the mailman busy :o) I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures yes you have so much to forward to he should be graduating in his dress whites and he's going to look so handsome I cried the entire time it's a once in a life time expereience. My baby had changed so much within those nine weeks he's stationed now in Virginia Beach about an hour and a half from home he's currently in "C" school and doing good. He's home every other weekend or I'm at the beach. I'm so glad you decided to join this site you are going to meet some wounderful people who walk with through every step the way so when you get a chance my SIstah hit me back and let me know how you're doing. Until net time God Bless and Peace!

About me:
I love gardening. I am so proud of my son, but I am going to miss him so much, my garden is going to look great from all the time I am going to spend working to keep from missing him!
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My dad and my father in law were both in the Navy (both are now deceased). I am so proud of our US Navy and glad my son decided to join. He is going to benefit so much from all that the Navy is going to teach him and he will make lots of new life long friends and get to travel.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
