You'll get a letter with graduation information and your son's address soon. I got mine about a week after I got the brown box. Hang in there, things seem to move very slow for us -- but our son's are constantly busy.

I received the brown box on the porch today. I was okay with it since I knew it was coming. I was disturbed though because I was told mailing information was going to be included in the box. It was not, needless to say. I hope that I get a letter ...

He'll do fine. Blake said the first few days are the hardest but it gets easier as they progress through boot camp. I can't tell you how proud you'll be and how emotional the graduation ceremony is... I have truely begun to understand what an amazing man my little boy has become! I think emotionally boot camp may have been much harder on me than Blake; just imagining all those strangers being "mean" to my baby and the not getting to talk to them very often (a 1 minute call the night he arrived & one other call) but he'll most likely write every week and you should write and encourage him at least once a week; I hear the recruite treasure letters from home!

Hi, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my future son-in-law Tim has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will your son/daughter be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your Sailor. Pat

The Big Brown Box

I received the brown box on the porch today. I was okay with it since I knew it was coming. I was disturbed though because I was told mailing information was going to be included in the box. It was not, needless to say. I hope that I get a letter soon. I know that it is probably more difficult for me than it is for my son, but I really would like an address to send words of encouragement. Still waiting...

WAITING...

At this point, it is a waiting game. My son left for Basic on Sept. 10, 2009. I know that it is what all men must do at some point in their life, but I am his mom...LOL. I am grateful that he is doing this, but it was difficult to see him go...Bittersweet, to say the least. I am now waiting to hear from him. I know that he will be okay. I am just waiting...
