Hi everyone, I just moved to Virginia from Missouri. My daughters are stationed in Norfolk. Jess is on the USS Bulkeley (DDG84), and Jill is on the USS Forrest Sherman (DDG98). I live in Hampton. Any get togethers planned for this area?

Hi everyone! First, I must say, I am not a nurse. But, I work in an integral part of the hospital. I am a Medical Laboratory Technologist and work night shift at a very busy regional trauma facility. Is it alright to join this group?

Seems as if alot of moms are nurses.. Just checking to see where you live and what kind of professional setting you work in.

It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hey Georgia: I think I've been MIA for quite awhile. Popping onto my page for quick glimpses every couple of days/weeks. Am in recovery mode at the moment as Kelley and 8 or 10 of her 'friends' and physics colleagues invaded the house to run the 24 hour "Wild West Relay" from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs - 200 miles. I worked one of the Exchange Stations from 9 PM til 3:30 AM the next morning, then followed the team van for the next 8 hrs to Steamboat. Am gettin' a bit long in the tooth for some of this...but it was fun being around Kell and the younger generation for a week. They finished 2nd for Women - not bad for a bunch of 20-something women scientists. ; -)

How are you doing? I don't envy you and the Virginia weather in the 90s w/ humidity. We continue to have an unusally wet summer w/ kool temps...low 60s and in the mid 40s at nite. The Sibes are definitely happy, but longing for snow & winter.

Gotta get busy w/ the piles of laundry, etc - take care and drop me a note when ya can...

Hi there, I just wanted to say welcome to Virginia! My son is in boot camp and will graduate on 6/12 - I'm getting so excited! He said they told him he would be in P-Cola for a few weeks and then out to the fleet. He requested Norfolk to be his home base. We'll see....

Your twins are beautiful and I'm sure you are so proud of them. From the pics, it looks like one is married?

Have fun in VA--our motto is Virginia is for Lovers!!

Hey: I'll be in Virginia next Monday, but just for a couple of days...a very short week. Am headed to Norfolk on Monday for a couple of hours. This is a crazy trip, but there are some things I gotta do, then home cuz of obligations here. Spent most of today on the "tractor" mowing the couple of acres. Almost got done 'fore the lightning chased me inside. Should be finished in 3 or 4 hours tomorrow if it's dry enuf. By the way, have you contacted one of the Ombudsman for the Forrest Sherman? Got an email tonite from the CO re their trip thus far...pretty kool.

Charlie is doing ok. His haircut is a Marine "high & tight", but he has started losing it this week...practically bald again so the scar is very obvious. He's apparently wearing baseball caps in the office thesedays. Says he feels "fine".

See if you can't shove all that hot weather out to sea by the end of this week. It was in the 40s today and 30s tonite here. I'm happily a 'weather wimp'!

Hey...how are ya? Headed to Virginia? Was in Norfolk a couple of times this week. Saw the Bulkeley twice as I drove thru...waved both times for ya. ; -)

By the way, have you contacted either of the Ombudsmans for the Forrest Sherman? Had a nice conversation w/ her. That was one of my "missions" while I was there yesterday as well as a "chat" w/ the Red Cross. Back to Colorado on Sunday. Send me a PM once yer settled in Virginia.

Hi,
I’m not back…actually we did not leave yet. We’ll be leaving for Ft Lauderdale on Tuesday 04/28 and return Saturday night 05/02. The kids we'll get there tomorrow. It looks like my son is going to have few days off. He and his friends just want to relax, eat & talk. Hopefully we’ll get to visit the ship, and see a little bit of the celebration. I’ll keep you posted. Have a great week.

Just wanted to say Hi. I too have twins but they are headed to Marine boot camp in June of this year. Their brother Jeremy is a HTFN on the USS Bainbridge out of Norfolk. So neat to meet people that have so much in common. When did the girls graduate from GL? Jeremy left there in October of 2008 then moved to Norfolk in March of this year. Let me hear from you sometime.

Hi Georgia, I am sorry it took so long to reply. I'm glad that your girls got reunited, and you spent some quality time with both of them. Right now I am looking forward to our trip. I found out that our son will be able to spend
three days with us; and yes, we'll hopefully be able to take lots of pictures! Last Friday we got a nice small SUV for Vlad, and we'll have to plan our trip to Norfolk to have it delivered, we plan to be there when they return from their longer trip. How are you doing? Of course you are happy; the girls are together and not very far.
Well, got to get to work, busy around here lately! Have a great day!
