Hi Gina, I can't believe I found 3 Marylanders in one day. I live in Severn. I see your son is in boot camp now. Mine graduated on 5/2 and is now in a holding pattern in Pensacola waiting to get into his A school. Well you're about halfway through boot camp, how are you holding up. won't be long now, have you made any plans yet? Hang in there.

All,
With the website being so screwy the last few days, I wanted to post this on everyone's page individually and hope that you will see it.
1. I've posted the June birthdays. Please get a card out to these recruits somewhere around their birthday. It would be really hard to be so young and away from your family for your birthday.
2. I've posted our only anniversary. Please remember David and Consuela on their FIRST wedding anniversary.
3. I've posted a list of about 30 FEMALE sailors who are graduating soon (6-6-08) and have received little or no mail since starting bootcamp. I think this is terribly sad. They need our support going into battlestations. If everyone would pick 5-10 names (please don't all start from the top) and send them a 99-cent card of encouragement, I think it would really pick up their spirits. They have to be feeling fairly unloved. You can sign your name or not...your choice. I personally will commit to sending 15 cards starting from the bottom of the list up. Pam, I'm counting on you to send 15 starting from the top down. Everybody else, just jump on in somewhere. We've got to get these girls some mail!
4. If I missed your recruit's birthday or anniversary, please let me know and I'll send out another post.

All this stuff can be found on my blog. You have to be my friend to see it (to protect the identity of specific recruits). I think I've sent friend requests to everyone on the list, but if I missed you, send me a request!

See you all in less than 37 days!!!

I tried to send this as a group message, but I don't think that function works very well. If you've gotten it twice, please forgive me.
Please ask your son/daughter to look around at mail call and notice who's not getting letters. Our PIR group would like to "adopt" these recruits to let them know someone is thinking about them.
We'll need full names (which might be a problem because they use only last names) and ship/division.
Please either PM me through the website or send me an email at mrsmcgee@aol.com with the names. Do not post them in a public forum.
I will post a private blog and let you all know if there's any recruit in need.

I have posted June recruit birthdays on my blog page:
http://www.navyformoms.com/profiles/blog/show?id=1971797%3ABlogPost%3A215738

You have to be my "friend" to view it, so it's private.

If you get a chance, please drop a birthday card in the mail. These recruits will be SO surprised.

Welcome aboard!
Hope you are adjusting well. It's tough. Some days are tougher than others.
If you get a minute, go to the PIR group homepage and respond to the two postings (one to introduce yourself and the other to let us know if Don has a birthday or other special event during bootcamp).
Ask any and all questions you have. Someone will know (or find) the answer. We're all in this together and we will get through it!

I received the graduation information yesterday. My son called earlier this week and I was away from my phone. He left a very nice message and it was so good to hear his voice. It sounds like he is doing well and is sure of his decision. My son's name is Arval Headrick. I'm glad that there is finally someone else out there in the same Division/Ship.
