In the NROTC program
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be patient and encouraged! It may be really hard at first and at times but amazing things will happen and you may get a call or letter when you least expect it!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I did finally get a call from him on Saturday letting me know he'd be taking some leave after PIR to come home for the holidays- otherwise he would be a grad n go and would've shipped to San Diego that same day. So I get my boy for Christmas and New Years which is wonderful! I also got his first letter today. He seems to be doing great. They made him a dental yeoman and he is carrying the Kansas flag for the honor guard so that's cool. It makes him even busier but he's working hard to find the time to study. etc.

How is everything on your end?

Well, I got his phone call that he was there safe, then I got the form letter a couple days later... nothing since tho :(

It's day 11 so I'm not surprised that haven't heard from him, but I was hoping to get a letter this week... there's always tomorrow. And he said he'd be calling in two weeks, which is this week coming up.

How long did it take for you to hear from your husband?

That's what I am trying to do- stay busy. It never hits how much I miss him until I see pictures of his happy smiling face... But we're managing and I know we'll come out of this okay.

San Diego, eh?! Maybe we'll be able to meet up once we get there!

Yes Justin is in Division 904... I am assuming he told them he can play bass and electric guitar very well now, as well as piano and something else (I can't remember, from high school band).

We've been told that although they do not "encourage" it, if a sailor has a family and they are at A-school for a period of time, they do eventually obtain liberty to leave base and live with us... however when that is I do not know. We plan to wait out in Colorado and visit some family until we pretty much have the go ahead to come out there.

I'm doing pretty good with him away. I have a job that allows me to work from home while taking care of our three month old daughter, Avery. Between her, my job and our cat and dog, I have a full day, every day. And time that isn't taken up by them is made way for phone calls, errands, and housework. I don't have much time to think about how much I miss him though it is a lot. I wouldn't have let him leave if I didn't think we could all survive. Keeping busy keeps me from being lonely, which helps. What about you?

Justin graduates from GL on 12/18, so we will be out there about a month after you. Not sure when the class will be starting but I hope to be out there shortly after he gets there, as I have to take my time getting there because I'll be traveling without our infant daughter. I will be staying in Colorado with his parents after graduation until he is settled and finds a place in SD. Have you done any research on being able to live together?

Excellent! When is your husband due to go to SD? Is he in STG as well? Maybe they will run into each other... Are you planning on moving out there, or are you waiting?

Hi Ash- I've been slow to respond too- sorry. I congratulate your hubby on his new navy path and wish the two of you the greatest success you can find in marriage. Knowing each other for a long time and being the best of friends is the finest basis for a marriage that I can think of. I'm sure that you will be a wonderful Navy wife and probably a mom too. Woo Hoo sweetie- Mo

Hi Ash- Glad to add you as a freiend on N4M. I have recently moved back to Scottsdale from Norman, OK- hence the AZOK- K needed me to move to Norman so he could graduate HS with his friends and stay on his track. Some of it worked well- some of it didn't- Ex husband from a nasty D involved....
K and I are not communicating right now- over stupid stuff- it's very hard on me as we have always been close. This is why you did not meet me at the PIR- but we'll meet sometime in the future. God Is In Control.- K is in Ship 4/ Div 840 which now becomes Class 281. I think he may be in with your hubby.
You are a braver woman and maybe a smarter one than I am(was) as I turned my sailor (USN Academy grad- in pilot training in Pensacola) away because I did not want a boyfriend/husband going off to the carriers for months at a time.- Fast forward- he and I are still the greatest of friends- he is a retired Cpt. - and a pilot for Airtran. So it had a different if not (happy) ending.
Blessings and Hugs to you, and my prayers for the safety and successful execution of all of these Pre-BUDS classes and trainings for your husband and my son.
