Thanks for the heads-up on taking it slow. It sounded like two weeks was an awfully short period of time for this type of injury. Please do keep praying. I will be writing her today and I will ask her if she knows Cass. There is another girl in th...

About me:
I am just me and proud of it, ever changing/growing/learning and living my life. I have learned to appreciate others for their individual and unique qualities and enjoy personalities. My family is my life. I have been married 19 years to my best friend, and our only daughter is 18 and currently in boot camp. I am a respected professional woman, and still love my biker wild side. Please call me G.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Give them as much encouragement and support possible. She fought her way through 3 DQ's for abdominal surgery at birth and refused to give up. We supported her every effort all the way up to the top national levels. It was hard and discouraging and frustrating, but she's fought hard and Her Medical Waiver was approved. After almost a year in the DEP program she entered boot camp 9-9-09. The DEP program was a great start, we got to be involved as she began her journey and it has made this difficult transition a little more bearable.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger

Hi G,

Your daughter Cassandra sounds like a remarkable young lady that you and your family must be really proud of her achievements. Thankful she did not give up on the medical waiver and I can relate to this from my daugher's experience.

Both of our daughters are fighters and that drive will come in handy as they suceed in the US Navy. Hope to hear from you soon. Sherry

Questions about DEP are most defiantly welcome.
A question that you have may be a question that someone else has

Hi Gretchen, I'm Kathy and live in Eaton County - we're neighbors! I saw your post on the Michigan Mom's site. My daughter also joined at 17, she left for Great Lakes on August 12th and had her PIR (Pass-in-review) on October 3rd. She is now stationed at Little Creek in Norfolk, VA and is an MU (musician) She's at the School of Music now and she'll be there for about 6 months. If you or your daughter have any questions, please feel free to ask! This website is great for support and making new friends. - Kathy
