Ingrid, I understand how you feel about not having Armando home this year for Christmas. We didn't have Hans home last Thanksgiving nor Christmas because he was at bootcamp and it was hard. We even missed his phone call home. He graduated on January 2, 2009 and it was great seeing him so that help made up for not having him home for the holidays. Hans plans on taking leave in December so he can be home for Christmas, some friends' graduation from college, and a friend's wedding. He has already planned a full schedule and he isn't home yet.
Wow, I can't imagine the feeling of my son being away so far for so long, but what can we do if this is what they want, right? Good luck to him so we can't help but be so proud of our boys "young men" LOL
When Katie turns 20 in Dec it will be her 1st away from home, as well as Christmas (that one will be harder, I Know-for both of us!) Our oldest, Alicia, turned 22 this year and it was the first time in 4 years she was home on the actual day. No chance at all that Armando would be able to take leave for his sister's wedding. I know that Katie wants to be home for a cousins wedding next year, if they are in port, but now they are thinking of changing the date due to his National Guard duties. Thanks for letting us know that they have reached port. I haven't rec'd that e-mail yet, but sure to soon. Just hope she gets to go horseback riding like she plans. When is the wedding?
Katie seems to be doing fine. She is glad that her 3 months of 'scullery' duty wiill be over soon. Katie has been doing officer laundry and their tablecoths since shortly after she arrived. I guess her relief may be arriving in Brisbane. Katie said she would have 2 days of liberty while in Brisbane and hopes to go horseback riding.
Katie missed her brother's graduation and then the grad/18th bday party last weekend. I think she was missing all the family and her little cousins. She wanted me to be sure to take pics and mentioned how she hopes to call soon. We haven't rec'd a call since they left Sasebo. Otherwise, she usually sounds positive and is keeping busy. Looking forward to starting her real rate - DC - damage control, soon.
What are Armando's plans in Brisbane? Does he like what he is doing?
I see on an earlier post that Armando has a birthday in August. I would be happy to send him a card, if you'd like. Just e-mail me his address and his birthdate.
Hello Ingrid
I am doing good and you? I am holding up good starting to prepare trip to go see him on Aug. 13th., I can't wait. I gotten 2 letters form him and a brief call asking to send in some paperwork to the office. He actually has not called to have a real talk. But not feeling bad at all because I know they are pretty busy and hes OK. How are you holding up with your son going to Japan thats a long way, that will freak me out but they are doing what they like I guess. God Bless
