Dear John,
How have you been? I'm always happy to hear from you. I'm so excited about the baby. Kim Im's me on the computer, everyday now. The due date is Jan 2, so I'm going down on Dec 28 for a few weeks. According to the sonogram, we're expecting a boy.
I've been delirious over this, my first grandbaby.

Kim is considering marriage, to my releif. From what she tells me, the guy is good one, we'll see when I meet him! HAHA! He's also from her ship. His mother wants to come down too when the baby is born. That'll be nice.

Poor Danny, he had watch during that storm. I hope he didn't get sick. I know Virginia got belted with flooding. That's horrible, the poor kids working outside in that weather. The Sailors only have flashlights to do that work. There's no over head street like lamps for lighting at the pier? That's horrible. That's an accident waiting to happen, God forbid. I aggree with you, I would change things too if I were in charge.

Last year, I don't remember what state, there was a fatal accident at night with two Sailors, checking the ships. They were in on a small boat, one Sailor died. I'm surprised after that incident, the Navy piers haven't been more safty caustious.

I'll keep Danny and the other Sailors in prayer.

My update, I was approved for that ear surgery, the cochlear implant. I have that on Dec 17. Then I leave for Virginia on the 28. I told my ENT doctor about my traveling. I just can't take the plane for awhile. So I'll be on the train for a lovely 10 hours! UGH!

Kim's boyfriend is trying to get time off on the expected week. The ship has been going on longer cruises, now.

Well that's my excitment. I just cant wait until the baby's here, The thought of the rushing to the hospital, I'm not looking forward to! HAHA! I drove my girlfriend to the hospital when she was having her twins. And that drive was through a thunder storm...not fun! HAHA! The boys are 15 years old now.

Let me get going. You stay well. Have a great Thanksgiving, if I don't hear from you.
Take care and God bless.
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear John,
I thought the Martians were pretty hospitable! HAHA!!! I missed your fun letters! HAHA! I think of you with the New York pizzas! HAHA! Remember when you went to Danny's graduation, and had Chicago pizza! HAHHA!

I love Steve Wilkos, he's such a good guy. He bends over backwards to help people, as long as they have tried to do they're best. It's the pedophiles, sex offenders, abusers, child neglect, people like that he yells at and throws his chairs! HAHA!!

I just wrote to the show, it's funny that you mentioned him. I'm having trouble with my son, that's old history. But he's worse now. My son was put away for a year in a residential home for troubled boys. He came home after his year was up, and met up with his old friends. The only thing is, I had to reply back to the TV shows response, my son is on court probation. He can't leave the state. His probation just started two months ago. He has random drug testing and weekly rehab that is court appointed.

So in my reply, I wrote that I'll probably write back again, when the probation is over. It's one thing him getting arrested for something he did. It's another, getting arrested while getting help.

I'd love to get him in Job Corps. We did try, but Job Corps goes by the W2 form. So David didn't qualify, my husband made too much money. In Job Corps, the kids study for their GED diploma and learn a trade. David will be 19 next week, and is only in 11 grade. He cut so many times from school, he kept getting left back. This is why I refer to my son as my "gray hair"! Those are earned! HAha!

Anyway, moving right along. I'm doing great, can't complain. I'm glad the summer is over. It wasn't really to bad though, may days did have a breeze.

Danny is doing wonderful, I know you're proud. That's great, he's an Officer already. I wish him all the best in his career. God bless him.

Kim's the same way with the love/hate for the Navy. He ship has been doing short cruises, but she hates her job. I can't blame her, it is boring, staring at the radar screen. If it were me, I'd be nodding off to sleep!! HAHA!
First she said, when she makes her second year, she'll request to go back to A School and train for something else. She was thinking something with the word "engine" in it. I don't remember!! HAHA

Now, from her last visit home, three weeks ago, she told me that she had requested to have her name put on a list to be a IA (indivaual augmentee), the list is a year long. I am not a happy camper over this. Maybe Kim has a death wish or something, I don't know.

I wrote to the office where the training for this is, and they did reply back. Kim will go for training for two months, trained to be a Soldier, you read that correct. She already knows how to shoot with a rifle, well now she'll be an expert shooter, learn hand grenades, night vision bombing, all defences against terrorism, all the fun stuff!!

She will be on her own deployment, to either Iran or Afghanistan, on land with he Soldiers. The deployment is for one year. When she's done, she returns to her ship the USS Normandy and deploys with them as well.

I love her answer, "As long as I don't get shot in the head or chest, I'll be fine". Now I can really sleep soundly!! UGH!

I know the Navy takes their sweet time with things, but waiting 6 months for recruiting papers, that's crazy, Here Danny was asked to help recruiting, why the wait on supplying him with the literature and brochures. That's nuts, you'd think those things were right at hand, for recruiting.

I love that craziness with the Navy. They can never make up their minds, they want one thing and say another. Like you said, the love / hate relationship with the Navy! HAAH!

That's nice about Danny's girlfriend. She has a good head on her shoulders. I wish Danny all the best with being "winged" and becoming a Naval Aviator. Who knows, maybe he will change his mind and want to re-enlist for longer.

Not much excitment with me going on. Same old thing, I live such a boing life!! HAHA!! I did get a hearing aide for my left ear, I'm doing not bad with it.
That's my latest news!! HAHA!

I guess that's it for the moment. I'm so happy your back to writting. You know I'm always around. I have nothing better to do! HAHA!

God bless you and your family.
Take care and stay well,
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear John,
Welcome back, I thought you fell off the earth or an alian abduction!! HAHAHA!!! I missed you, I loved your letters.
How are you and the family?
I hope and prayer everything and everyone is well.
How is Danny and where is he now?
Is he still in Florida?

I'm doing good, no complaints. Kim's is on the USS Normandy in Virginia. It was docked for months, so out of boredom, she bought a car. She drove up 5 times already.

Now her ship has been sailing on short cruises. All we know, sometime next year, they are expected to deploy over the luxuriuos Afghanistan. Kim wants to go shopping. Maybe she thinks there's a mall in the dessert. I told her she can buy a pair of sandals! HAHA!

I'm still here, writting my 900 messages per day!! HAHA!! I love this website! HA! My favorite are the Boot Camp moms. It was just last year I was a nervous wreck!! HAHA!

I have lost so many moms after their child graduated Boot Camp. I thought you stopped as well, since Danny graduated.

Have you made copies of all your clients files, God forbid of another robbery?
I felt so bad when you wrote me about that.

I'll let you get going. I really hope to hear from you. I always loved your messages!
Take care and God bless,
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear John,
I am always happy to hear from you. I'm glad your almost finished retrieving all your work.
What a shame about Danny's friend with the potential hearing loss. But he doesn't have it now, that could happen in 30 years from now.

Have you read anything about that Ship 17, this is the buliding the Navy sticks their rejected recruits, waiting for discharge. Yet, what ever their problem was, slipped right by the Navy medical examiners. Some of these kids have mental behavior history, and drug abuse, this was over looked, and these kids went to Boot Camp, but it was found out, and they got stuck in the building Ship 17. Yet, the Navy is worried about something that hasn't happened yet to this poor boy with the hearing! I wish you all the best in fighting this with him.

Kim is doing laundry in the meantime!! UGH!! She's been on HOLD a month now. I can't wait until she's told where she'll be stationed. I know she's hoping either Californai or Hawaii. First she said Australia. Who knows where she'll be placed. I just pray she likes the jobs she was trained for, reading the radar. It sounds so boring!!! UGH"!!

Last Monday, I was in the Columbus day parade, on the Navy fro moms float. That was fun. After two hours of smiling and waving, my cheeks hurt!! HAHA!! Two women Sailors were with us, they were so great talking with.
One woman is in the Navy 29 years and the other 14 years. Both couldn't praise the Navy enough. They were saying, the Sailors can change there jobs ( rate), they'll go back to A School and learn something else, if their not happy. That's great to know!! HAHA!!

Have you seen the commercial for Navy for moms? I haven't seen it yet.
Since Monday, when the commercial started to be seen, it has been crazy here!!! You know how busy I am with this, you always joke how many letters I wrote!!
Well, John, it has tripled since the commercial!! I am talking uncontrollable. Where maybe one page of new moms wrote in, now it's 6 pages of new moms, in the same time frame. It's scary to check now!! HAHA!!

So what I decided, I told the administrator and another greeter, I'll just greet the night shift!! HAha!!! We're all talking about this!!!
Normally, the past four months, I write every day for 10 hours, I do break. That's why I joke that I should get paid!! HAHA!! Now, forget it....ever since this commercial!!
But not only Navy, I have had moms and wives from the Army and Air force write in. They have no where else to go for support.

Everyone here is doing well. Oh yeah, lover boy Bozo, he's gone, thank God. Kim said the long distant relationship won't work!!! That's one bad thing about the Military, it's hard on a marriage. Thank God, Kim broke off, she didn't marry this depressed actor!! That was like a house lifted off me!! HAHA!!
Let me get going.
Good luck with helping out Danny's friend.
Take care and God bless.
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear John,
I missed you!!! I wish you the best in finally ending your seacrh , from the burgualry.!!
That is wonderful about Danny, that he came to visit. Your such a great "dad", you really are, God bless you!! It's wonderful that you enjoy Danny's company and you do things with him. God bless you, that's the way it should be.
I'm doing good. I was in the Columbus day parade today, with other Navy moms. My husband taped it. Again, channel 4 went into commercial when our float was coming up. The float was never shown on TV. I watched the parade to the end.
This also happened in July, when a bunch of us were supposed to be on the tv show "Today". I don't think the Navy for moms banner was even shown. Al Roker was expected to interview the cordinator of Navy for moms. Well, Al was sent out to cover something else, that day!! UGH!! Also channel 4, I wonder if it's a conspriency!! HAHA!!

Kim finished A School, and still waiting to be stationed. Once she gets those new orders, she can come home.
I was told she came to her senses and broke up with that depressed actor!! Thank God for that!! He's back home in Arkansas.
Kim first said she wanted to go to Australia, now she changed it to Hawii. Who knows where she'll wind up!!! UGH!!

In two weeks, I go on a three day vocation to Salem, Massachuttes.
My oldest daughter Darlene, my God daughter, and two friends of theirs are coming with us. I'm looking forward to this!!
I think that's my update. Otherwise nothing exciting going on.
Please don't be a stranger. I always enjoy your letters.
Take care and God bless.
Barbara
PS: I haven't been on the computer for two days, I had 5 pages of new moms to greet!!! UGH!!! I have typing cramp!! HAHA!!

Dear John,
I figured something was up, since I haven't heard from you.
First I thought the hurricanes did damage. I wish you well in getting back the information and everything else with your job!!

That's fantastic that you see Danny. Kim didn't pass one test, last week, so she's still in A School, hopefully this will be her last week there.
As far as we know, she'll still be on hold. She wrote and said whenever she does get leave, she's visiting that Bozo boyfriend in Arkansas.

Anyway, nothing much going on. My daughter Darlene and I are planning a three day visit to Salem, Massachuttes, the end of October.
I'm so relieved with the cooler weather now!! HAHA!!
I finall did go to the Renisance Faires, last Sunday. Never did apple picking, oh well!!!
This is my exciting life!!! UGH!!
I'll let you get going. It was so good to hear from you.
Take care and God bless.

Dear John,
Tell Hanna we left the country...no forwarding address!!! HAHA!! She doe s have a punch though, something to look forward too!!!HAHA!! I know the weather channel has been saying the Ike is the bad one!! UGH!! My husband always wanted to live in a water front house, not me, not when a hurricane is coming, no thank you. One time, a water front house got a sail boat in their livingroom. No one was hurt thank God.
I am so sorry about you not having back up on those files. Good luck retriving back your information.
With the Dolphin and the Giants, I'm sorry....who cares!!!!HAHA!! Let them fight it out!!!HAHA!!
Last night my daughter and her girlfriend was watching the game. I left and stayed with my God children. I can not get into sports. Don't understand it and couldn't care less. I was laughing how you phrased that though, my daughter and her friend are sports fantantics.
We're planning to visit Salem, Massachuttes at the end of October. The girlfriend wants to wear something about the Yankees. I told her as long as it doesn't say "The Red Sox" suck!! HAHA!! I once saw a T-shirt saying that!! I told them I 'll walk on the other side of the street with those Yankee T-shirts.
Let me get going. I beleive Hanna is expected in the evening, the last I saw on the weather channel. Company no one wants!!!
I'll let you get going.
Take care and God bless.
Your friend,
Barbara
