- Hi Jack! My step dad was in for 20+ years and made Lt. Commander before he retired. I have many fond memories of growing up with the Navy. I met my husband on the base in San Diego. I can't tell how proud we were when Nick said he was joining the Navy! He really enjoyed bootcamp and is already talking about making a career of it. He just started CS school Monday so I hope he enjoys that as well. I'm just glad we get to talk to him now that he is out of bootcamp! The Navy just how so much to offer and I think it was the best decision he could have ever made. My youngest son is 14 and is now talking about joining the Navy and flying airplanes. He wanted to join the Air Force until Nick recruiter told him he can fly planes in the Navy too! I guess he thought all the planes were Air Force! Looks like I will eventually have two Navy sons! :)
