Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

Dear Jan, You, your son and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. My heart has been touched to hear of your son's dedication and commitment. Our son was deployed on the 9th he is the oldest of our three (20) single. He will be making his way to the Gulf. Things moved pretty quickly for him once he finished A school. I pray everyday and talk with GOD all day long...these are tough times and GOD desires to comfort us with HIS Presence. May He Keep You and Yours in His Tender Loving Care.

I was so surprised to find something for Moms. My son is married and has three children and every thing seems to be directed at his immediate family. That's really great!! (They didn't have anything even remotely supportive when my son's dad was in Viet Nam) I know my daughter-in-law and the kids miss him fiercely and sometimes it's hard for me to be the supportive one when I am still his mom and still love him, miss him and worry.

My son, Steve, is a seabee in a riverine unit. He is the coxswain of the boat his unit patrols with on the river. Steve was in the regular Navy when he was right out of high school and was in the Persian Gulf crisis. Then he got married and life went on until one day he rejoined the Navy as a reservist. Then this past year they got a new CO and he decided they would go to war. So, Steve became once again ACTIVE Navy...to be deployed to Camp Patriot.

Thank you for a warm welcome. I really appreciate it.

About me:
I am the proud Mom of a sailor currently serving with riverine unit in the war zone.
My son's father was a sailor in Viet Nam and my son was in the regular Navy during the Persian Gulf crisis. That same son re-joined the Naval Reserves several years ago. We thought he might not get called to the Iraqi turmoil but he is now active Navy and he was deployed just before Christmas 2008.
I am here to support or represent my:
Steven
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted, Overseas
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
the Navy taught him things I could never begin to teach him and the Navy instilled in him an espirit d' corp (sp?) as well as reaffirming our basic family values.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made
