Graduation

Posted on August 15, 2008 at 9:58pm 0 Comments

Where did the time go? Between boot camp and my moving...it has gone rather quickly but this week is dragging so far. Okay, so it is only the first day of the week to graduation.

We should all be proud of ourselves for surviving and growing from this. We are all a bit stronger and have a better, possibly stronger, relationship with our sailors. Is it possible that these sailors were once our babies, literally, and depended on us for everything?? Where did those days… Continue

What is Normal

Posted on July 18, 2008 at 10:00pm 6 Comments

First I really want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcomed and for sharing their experiences. It is nice to know I am not going crazy or alone is these feelings.

I guess today would be considered a normal day, went to work and came home to a very happy dog. It just seems there is something missing and the ironic part is Linda hasn't lived at home for about 2 years.

Linda joined and shipped out June 25th. I have a girlfriend whose husband is overseas and I now… Continue

Hi Jane, I saw your comment regarding if a recruit did not pass battle stations, we would be getting a phone call home to let us know. We have received no phone call from our daughter, either telling us she made it or set back. She was having a problem with her running time and was worried about it. She is in DIV 940, Ship 06. I am frantic for a phone call!! We will be attending graduation on 8/22 and figure no news is good news... What are your thoughts? Thanks, Robin.

Hello Jane, how is everything going with your daughter? I cant believe a week from now we will be seeing them. I am impatiantly waiting to see if I hear from Callie today. I guess they had battle stations last night, she said in her letter that if they pass they get to call this afternoon.

Awesome! Thanks for the info on the scrapbook store by MOA. I am not sure what weekend we are going up but I will ask my girlfriend if she knows where it is. If not I will check back with you for directions. Always up for checking out a new scrapbook store. Not that I REALLY NEED more stuff. I could probably start my own scrapbookstore with the stuff I have now! Thanks again for the info.

It's funny that you've met several Jane Andersons. You are the first I've run in to. Aren't many Swedes here in Florida.

You asked how we are adjusting to our new Navy sailor. We are proud of him. He hurt his leg in boot camp so took a month to heal & then finally finish. Our younger son is in the Air Force so we have really become quite the military family. It's funny because my husband was in the Air Force during Viet Nam and he said his kids would never go in the military. Our sons have done much to help my husband heal. We're VERY proud of both of our sons commitment. Tell me your story!
