Profile Information

About me:
"Triple T Mom" of Tim, Tyler & Todd. My youngest, Todd, has joined the Navy & is waiting to go to boot camp. He is in the Depp program and leaves August 31, 2009 for Great Lakes. He is in the Cardinal Company. At first I was reluctant for him to join, I had hoped he would go to college first and go in as an officer. But it was his decision to make and I knew deep down it was coming. Ever since he was old enough to choose his own reading material, he picked military topics. So I can only be supportive and try to learn as much as possible so that I can have meaningful conversations with him.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I considered joining the Navy ROTC in college but had my doubts that I could have passed the pull-ups, never could do more than three at time. Even went as far as the physical & tons of paperwork before withdrawing my application. So I know that the Navy has lots to offer and knowing my youngest, it'll be the best thing for him. He was in marching band at his high school so he's used to having someone in his face and marching for hours in the hot sun & cold rain. He was a jock too so having some screaming at him will make him feel like he's on the field or ice. I just hope he quickly learns to pick-up after himself.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

My son is in the 51st Cardinal Company. He leaves Aug. 31, 2009. Does anyone have a family member in this company?

Congrats to your son. Thats great! Other than being sick at the moment, I'm doing good. Just counting down the days! Even though I still wont see my son that often, at least the communication will be easier! Look forward to meet and greet too!

Thanks for asking about my son! Yes, I believe he is doing well, or I would have been able to tell in his voice. He's said he's going to have to work on his marching, as he's like his mother and has no rhythm! I told him to look at the guy in front of him and the guy to his right and he said that's exactly what he was told! If that's all that he has to worry about, I'll be glad. He said it's still P week, but if it's been P week this whole time, the best is yet to come! I tell him to say hello to your son, as I'm about to write him a letter. My pastor's wife said to type a letter, and pull the pictures into the text. What a good idea!

Janet - by all means, send me an email and I will send you more detailed info since you are a Depper family. Make sure you let me know that you are a N4M and a Depper in the email (I am getting RSVPs for the event from many people since the event is open to the public, so I need to know who I'm getting them from!) LOL

Blue Skies, Welcome to you Janet! You and Todd might want to consider attending a Dinner Event that I am hosting during St. Louis Navy Week.

Vice Admiral Venlet will be the Flag Speaker - he will give a presentation to all of the Navy families, and the soon-to-be Navy families (all of the St. Louis area DEPPERS and their families are invited, and their local Ombudsmen and NAVCO office, I believe, is inviting them to attend.

Email me at: michele.cowell@sbcglobal.net

I will be glad to send you the St. Louis Navy Week - detailed Flyer which also has a direct RSVP link.

Give my best wishes to Todd!
