I will keep the Hand Family in my prayers as well. I finally had the opportunity to talk to my Sailor in Japan. He called at 3am yesterday morning, it would have been 5pm or so in Japan. He said that he is doing good, he is just not all that crazy...

Hello ladies, my Sailor finally informed me that he was infact in Japan, but has been extremely busy. He is not on the ship until Friday, since it is out to sea. I hope you guys have a great week.
I finally heard from my Sailor, he is there but has been too busy to let me know he arrived. I got a few text messages, but it is communication and that is all I wanted. I want to thank you for all of your support and advice. You guys are the best!!!

Where will your Sailor be for the Holidays???
Myron will be stationed in Yokosuka, Japan this will be his first holiday season away from home. He is excited to go and has even found out that one of his fellow shipmates in GL will be stationed there as well. I am glad at least he will have someone he already knows that is going with him. Having trouble sending messages...
Timsmom and other moms who have asked me questions with no response. I have not been able to send messages for some reason the message center is not available. I have checked three times this week and I still cannot send a message. For any mom who is looking for the GO NAVY picture that is on my page. It is in a blog post titled NAVY vs. ARMY. You can copy and paste the picture or right click and save it to "my pictures".

Heart Full of Love for a PIR 8/21 Sailor...
It was one of the most breath taking experiences of my life to see 800 Sailors in formation all in white was a beautiful sight to see, I can't wait for the moms with upcoming PIR's to have that experience. We could not easily find Myron because he is so short, but with a very good camera from a Navy sister we were able to spot him in his division. 5th Letter from Boot Camp
Hey Mom,
I received your letters and Anna's package ( a 14 page letter), LOL! Let her know that I will give her stories back when I see her, I don't want them getting lost in the mail. How are you doing? I'm doing fine I could be better though. I have to pass my prone float this week or they will put me on 6-5 hold until I pass and I don't want that. So you can say I am stressing a little bit. Have you gotten much sleep since your last letter? Oh yea Trent is in my division actually I am talking… Continue

Michelle said… - Hi Veleda - I just realize that I started the discussion "Deployments on the Ship" because I wanted to know how long it takes to hear from him once he was out on the ship. But when my son arrived in Yokosuka, I heard from him within a day or two - very quickly. After he went out on the ship, it took about 4 to 5 days to hear from him and it was by email to my cell phone. They do have phones that he can use to call you. Veleda, they are given sponsors to show them the ropes when they get there and I hope that he/she is being helpful enough. My son had an iPhone within a few days of arriving in Japan. He was delayed for a few days and they are 12 to 14 hours ahead of us, then I'm thinking he should be in Japan by now. So if you have the ombudsman info for the ship, email him/her and ask about your son. You are a Mom and you are worried about your child - I don't think that's asking too much. Also, I love your letters from your son from Boot Camp - very nice...:-)

More than likely he has made it to Japan, once there, they will probably have him in temporary quarters until the USS Blue Ridge returns to Yokosuka. While he's waiting for it's return, he will probably go through his in-processing and then there is a class that helps them learn the basics of living in Japan, where things are, how to use the public transportation, etc. The USS Blue Ridge is currently finishing up their Southern Swing tour. My daughter is on the ship at this moment. Good luck and I hope you hear from your son soon :)

Marion/ DIV 940 SHIP 6/ in A-sch said… - HI there, It was good to hear from you, i her you about being paitent, my son hasnt called yet either and im getting so depressed about it, i see all the other parents getting calls but he hasnt yet, im not sure if i should send him a calling card or not, i think i will when i write him next... just in case so thats ok, as of his account i had my son take a voided check so they can direct deposit his check in his account... so we will see on that.. I seen the meet and i hope i get there in time, we are supose to leave thursday morning but not sure how long it will take us and if we will find it fast enough... but we will try.... but its ok to feel the way you do because i have my moments myself... i just start balling out of the blue but its because i miss my son so much, we are close and i was so use to him being right there everyday... 3 weeks is killing me... but i get on here it helps to talk to moms like you that feel the same as i do... so stick in there, im here if you ever need to talk..... im going to go for now, take me a hot bath been a long day at work... so ill catch up with you soon.... I am under the impression they can have ziploc's. That idea came from another div. who had sent them in the past to keep their letters together. I sent it, hopefully he'll be able to keep it. They were talking about it in our group, so evidently several people have. :)
I think of all of you all the time. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. It's getting closer!! Yea!

I here you about your hours, i have crazy hours too and its hard for me to get online alot too, but i try to keep up, because this page helps me so much... Im glad to meet you and am glad to know there are other parents staying where we are, it helps to know there are others to help us out, i was so afraid we would get somewhere and not get to base on time ect.... i plan on leaving thurs morning so we can take our time getting up there and not get lost, so it should be thur night when we get there, when are they supose to have a meet? ill have to learn more about that. if you can keep me up to date if i dont hear about it, thanks a whole bunch....but for now i best go i gotta get ready for work now but i hope to hear from you soon and get to know you better, thanks for the comment.... take care

I here you about your only son.... My son is my only one too.... and i got a few letters from him and OMG he said has hard has it is, he likes it alot... and he said he has learn respect ect.... I was afraid he might wonder what he was doing there to at 1st but how his letters sound he is really likeing it other then the PTs and the harder things they do... but hey meassage me back and we can chat more, because i here ya about your only son... Justin is my only one and some days it gets to me and i miss him soo.... we are close so when he left and these few weeks i have my moments.... before i got his Box, i called his phone 2 or 3 times... but now that i got his box and his phone was in it, that was a sad moment, i cry and im happy for him at the same time when i read his letters and just hope he will be ok.... i cant wait til Aug 21....
When does your son Grad and what Div. is he in? Justin is in 940 ship 6.... you have a wonderful weekend and im here anytime if you like to chat....take care

- I just got caught up with my comments. I hope you are doing better than when we first spoke. I just re-read my post from a week ago. It's funny in a way. I remember feeling almost on cloud 9 after that first letter. I still get very sad fairly often now. I know time will help me get used to our new life.
