Jeannie

Worried about my son.

Hi everyone, I have never posted a blog before but maybe someone can help me out a little. My son T.J just finished A school in Tx, then he came home for two weeks. We had a wonderful time. Now he is down in GA and is very homesick and depressed. We are encouraging him and telling him that we are so proud of him. He is working out with the Marines down there and they are working him so hard. So I was wondering if anyone else might have some advice for me, I just want to bring his spirits up more… Continue

Hi Jeannie! Thanks so much for the email and remembering that we went to visit Brendan. At least now I have a really good idea of what life is like down there for our kids; before I hadn't a clue. We had a great time. We got to see Bren most days and the days we didn't we toured around, we went to Savannah one day and then Jacksonville another and then St. Augustine another day with Brendan. Savannah and St. Augustine are absolutely beautiful but boy is it hot down there!!!! I so appreciated our weather when we got back! We had a wonderful time but it is so hard to say goodbye yet again and not know when we'll see them again. As soon as we got home we started thinking of when we could go back down and we're hoping to make a trip in February. It's great that you will (hopefully!) be able to see TJ in January. Brendan was saying they are allowed to pick a holiday to have leave - maybe he'll be able to make the trip even sooner! Brendan is hoping for Christmas but I'm not getting my hopes up, I'm sure he is low many on the totem pole as far as seniority. Anyway, "talk" to you soon and thanks for being there. What would we do without N4M's and each other!

Jeannie, we are doing the exact same thing! We're staying on base at the hotel and then on Brendan's days off, we will go down to Disney. We are all looking forward to it. My daughter (Brendan's twin sister) was down to visit Brendan in July and she said the base is huge but amazing! I am sooooo excited!!!!

Hi Jeannie! We are going down to see Brendan tomorrow and will be there for a week. Maybe we will get to see your son as well, that would be nice. Bren seems to like it, bought himself a small pickup and seems to be getting used to the schedule. I'll let you know more when we get back!

Hi Jeannie, thanks for the info. Brendan arrived at Kings Bay Saturday night and so far, so good!! He said the base is beautiful and there should be lots of things to do. Brendan is doing PRP - guarding nuclear missles and has 2 more weeks of training before he actually starts the job. Isn't it amazing how much our kids have learned since they first started boot camp? Anyway, thanks for the information, I REALLY appreciate it!! Have a great day!

Hi Jeannie, You must be so excited that TJ will be home soon! I know I am already counting the days and Sam doesn't graduate until July 2nd. We live in Aurora so we are not too far down the road. Enjoy your time together, I'm sure it will fly by.

Hi Jeannie, I noticed you're somewhat new to the MA group and your son is in his 2nd week. My son is still in boot camp but will be graduating on May 21st and is headed for SA. Was you son a grad and go by any chance? Greg is and we are flying to SA after the graduation to meet him there. I understand they get liberty but can't leave the base but I'm also hearing that they can, do you know anything about this? Thank you for your help.

That's great to hear. I got my letters on Tuesday and I think it was about the happiest day of my life. I actually got 5 which was great!!! They were dated various times during the week and he sounded very lonely. He as well is getting his wisdom teeth pulled this week, maybe they will have more times to write then if they are SIQ for 2 days!!! = ] He said he actually enjoys the PT which doesn't surprise me because he loves to work out. When he wrote last he hadn't received any of my letters which kind of saddened me because he didn't know I was writing him like everyday. I had already sent out like 8 letters!!!! My sailors name is Jack. He is 18, I will also write him about T.J. and see if they know each-other!!! Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update. Glad you got to go to the Colorado Mom's meeting -they're a lot of fun! Hang in there, you should be getting something from TJ soon. I've been working a lot lately (never know how long that'll last, but am just thankful that I'm working), so i'm not on-site as much as i'd like. Spence is doing great - loving DC & firefighting, but not soo keen on GL. He is looking forward to finishing school & getting down to "business". Keep in touch & let us all know when you get that first "real" letter!
God bless you, your family & your sailor recruit.

Hi Jeannie! It's been a long time since I checked in with you! How's everything going with TJ? Wow, what a ride boot camp is...huh? Kinda like a roller coaster that goes up & down & ya kinda get nauseous from time to time...
TJ will be just fine & you'll be soo proud (as you should be). Let me know how you're doing - Fellow Colorado Mom on Support Duty! LOL! Hooyah!
