It really comes down to ...ET or FC. ET there are alot more schools but they are shorter, FCs - there are only 3 locations for schools but longer programs. It's all good!

Jennifer, our son was at GL until Jan. 5th for A school and is now in Dahlgren for C school. He is an FC, fcs typically have longer C schools and they do not get their permanent orders under C school is about to end. We won't know until August when Nick will go. Typically for FCs and ETs -they will go to the fleet when C school ends. ETs often get multiple C schools at one time like 2 or 3 schools but they last about 3 months. Because their schools are shorter they usually will get their ship orders at the same time as their C school orders. Generally they know what ship they are heading to and their ship is saying...they want them to attend this class and that class before reporting. Did I confuse you yet?!!! LOL

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

Hey Jennifer, he will find out in bootcamp -usually in the fourth week as they have to cut orders for them to go to their A school so they will know before reporting which rate they are. Both are good rates. Our son PIRed in Feb last year and finished A school in December - he is now at C school. Let us know what questions that you may have.
