PIR May 1 st

Hi everyone!

Sorry it has taken me a week to write anyone, but getting back into the routine has been hard.

PIR was amazing!! We took the shuttle from our hotel, it was &6.00 each round trip. Well worth it, one note for the ride home, go to the little parking lot off to the side of the main gate to get your ride. It may or may not be your same driver but so long as it is the same company you are okay. We arrived at the base about 7:15AM and went in and sat where Ray's division number was.… Continue

Hi Jenny
Don't worry I know you've been busy with school starting. Kyle is doing well, he called today to say he passed a test test that earned him his rate. He's offically an AM. He has to pass his labs this next week and his final test before he graduates on the 21st. No I haven't been out there, the plan was for me to fly out to see Kyle then drive home with him. However; his duty station is in Jacksonville, so he's only moving 5 hours east from where he's at now. He'll fly home. The good news is the flights are much cheaper to Jacksonville vs Pensacola, bigger city. Kyle still plans to test for special ops in October, if he qualifiys I'll be flying out to Jacksonville and drive with him to San Diego, should take us about 5 days. I would be in the same boat with you if Kyle were closer to home. It's hard not to worry, hard not to feel that they may fall into the same old temptations. It sounds like so far he's doing just fine, you must be so proud. Sorry to hear about the OC spray, makes my eyes hurt just thinking about it. Jason is busy busy busy, he's 2 and the world is one big adventure. Some days I'm just so worn out, I can't wait for the 2 brothers to see each other again. It was nice hearing from you..take care :)

So very very impressive of Ray to finish with honors and second in his class. I had to laugh when you were talking about his Senior year and the trouble getting him to school. Its as if you were talking about Kyle. He spent most of his Sat in Sat school, because he couldn't get to school on time. What a year, I was sure he wasn't going to graduate, and so thankful when he did. I know what you mean about it being a mixed blessing having them so close to home, I share the same worries as you. Worried that outside distractions will interfer with what he's worked so hard to accomplish, yet when I talk to him, he sounds like such a mature young man. He's going to have to learn to stand on his own, or should I say I'm going to have to let him stand on his own.

Talked to Kyle today and he should find out his order next Wednesday, I'm so anxious to find out where he's going to go. He wants to ask for Lemoore, only to be closer to home. Funny all through High School they can't wait to be away from you, now he only wants to be closer to home. Lemoore?? Not the prettiest spot, but it's only 3hrs away.

I know you're going to be busy with school starting, we have 3 teachers in our family. No pressure on getting back to me, just know I'm thinking of you!

My husband ususally has to work the 4th but this year he doesn't go in until 7pm, so we'll probably have family over for a BBQ. Kyle turns 19 on the 3rd..I'll be thinking of him both days. He found out he has duty that weekend and won't be able to leave base. I used to live in Bakersfield from 1983-1998..hot hot hot and dry. I have a lot of friends down there that I keep in touch with on a regular basis. Speaking of cleaning day, my house has been neglected and in need of my attention too.

I talked to Kyle today, it sounds like he's going to class up Monday..whew. I think the wait may finally be over. He was told July 6th but this is even better. I know I mentioned that he's looking at buying a car or truck. I've decided that if he does that I'll fly out and drive back with him. I'd love a road trip with my son all to myself :) Hope you're having a good day!!

I know exactly what you mean about Father's Day being hard. This past week was rough for me too. Jason turned 2 and a few days after that was Father's Day. Both special occasions that Kyle missed. I guess it's one of many to come, but it sure doesn't make it any easier. It's amazing to me how much of a void there is with them not being home. At the beginning of June I went to the High School graduation, Kyle had 5 friends that graduated this year and I promised him pictures. The moment I got to the High School, the tears started to slowly flow down my face, under my sunglasses. I hadn't been to the school since the year before, when Kyle graduated and everything about that place reminded me of him ,not to mention seeing his friends. I got the pictures we wanted and told my husband that I didn't want to stay for the entire graduation. I know what you mean about not wanting to call on a regular basis, I try not to also. I usually send Kyle a text message during the day with something brief. I've been able to talk to him a bit more lately since he's trying to buy a car. He took out a loan with the Navy Credit Union to establish credit, good thing is they take the loan payment directly out of his paycheck. He's asked us to put his truck up for sale, I've gotten used to seeing that truck everday when I pull up. Sometimes I feel like it's just one more part of him that won't be here. Kyle spent the night off base for the first time this last weekend, I must say I was a bit nervous. Luckily everything turned out ok. He did mention that some guys threw a hot dog and egg at him and his buddy while they were walking. They threw it at them as they were driving by. Jerks! In the middle of writing this to you, I just got a phone call from Kyle..yipee! He sounded good, he was waiting for his laundry to dry. I had to send him some more shorts & t-shirts, someone stole his laundry from the dryer. I have no idea about Kyle's duty options, I only know that after A school, he's headed to C school, either in San Diego or Virginia. If he can finish at the top of his class he'll be able to pick the school, we're keeping our fingers crossed for San Diego.

Jenny I can relate to how your feeling, I've been feeling the same way. I still cry every now and then because I miss Kyle so much. It's hard for me to hear other Mom's going to visit their son/daughter for the 3rd or 4th time. I've seen Kyle for 48hrs since March 3rd when he left for BC. I miss him daily, and would give anything to see him again. I'd like to give him a hug!! Who hugs our sons?? Who lets them know that even though they are far away from home and having a bad day, they are loved?? No I don't write Kyle anymore, I haven't written him since BC. I was thinking about that the other day, I loved writing him. I do talk to him if not on the phone by text daily. He's had his ups and downs to with adjusting to life so far away from home, I think part of it is that he hasn't started school yet. Good news..he found out he starts school July 6th and will graduate from A school Aug 20th. At least I know that after Aug 20th he comes home for a couple of weeks. I keep checking the flights for cheap air faire, I desperatly want to see him between now and Aug even if it's only for his A school graduation. I had to laugh when you said Ray isn't a fan of roller coasters..he'd get along great with Kyle and me. I thought we were the only "chickens" out there. Ha! Lets try to stay in contact more, sounds like we're going through the same rough patch.

Hi Jenny, San Diego, wow, you are truly blessed and God is with you and your family. We're flying out to see Greg in Texas on Friday for the weekend. Going to the River Walk and just hang out, then I get to go back on the 10th for his graduation from MAA school. He will come home for two weeks and then he's headed off to Whidbey Island, WA. Of course I would have loved San Diego but WA is only a 2 hour flight and it is still close to home so I am also blessed very much. I think Greg is ready for a trip home to see his family and friends, it seems like forever, this whole thing has been an interesting and challenging experience. I wouldn't want to every do it again. I'm so glad every thing is going well for Ray and I bet your so anxious to see him come home. Please keep in touch.

Hi Jenny, Rachael is home now til the 18th. She is flying out to Gulf Port for combat training til September 11. From there she will be going to Port Hueneme which will be where she is based. She's never been to California, so she's excited. How about your son, where is he off to when he is done at Fort Leonard Wood?
