Hi Barb,
What happened to our old "248" forum? I got back from vacation and couldn't find it? How is Jesse doing in A school? When does he graduate? Eric is really liking his A school, just not the weather in San Antonio, :( too hot!
Have you heard from anyone else on how their boys are doing?
Keep in touch and let me know...
Take Care,
Donna

Hi Barb...OMG you made me laugh. I just can imagine Marcello bugging Jesse now!! He luvs to make jokes.
You're right, this waiting seems endless but I'm proud of him and everything he's accomplishing. I just try to stay very busy at school & work but when I get home at night and he's not there is not the same. Being able to talk to him everyday makes it easier though.
Well, thanks for keeping in touch, I look foward to read your posts everyday too and see how our sailors are doing!!! Talk to you later.

GM Barb, I talked to Marcello last nite and he confirmed he knows Jesse, I think they'll be taking classes together, BU's with SW's. He says Jesse is a cool guy and already has a nickname for my husband LOL
Marcello will be there 'til Oct more or less but not sure if he has to do Combact Training after that.
Well take care and talk to you soon!!

Hey Barb, how are you today?? I talked to my husband and he said he knows your son, they traveled n the same day from GL to Gulfport...I asked him about Jesse the SW student and he told me he doesn't know their first names..I keep forgeting LOL, but he told me he knows a good kid from WI who's struggling with the heat and is a SW so that must be him.
My husband's last name starts with R and is kind of long and weird LOL but yeah of course you can ask our first names. Mine is Paula and my husband's Marcello.
Talk to you later. Take Care! Paula

haha I understand you..I'm getting used to this Navy life...BU is Builder.
I talked to my husband last night and they started classes yesterday, it was only the introduction and he also said it's really hot. Well he's from Texas and has been living in South Florida for 9 yrs so he's kind of used to the heat and humidity...Me!? I don't think so!!, I'm from Miami but I just hate this humidity, let's not talk about my hair LOL but yeah you sweat a lot down here..I hope your son gets used to it really fast. Keep in touch!

About me:
I am the mom of a sailor...I never thought I would think of that as being really something. When Jesse first told us he was thinking of joining the Navy, I didn't try to discourage him, but I certainly wanted him to be fully aware of the huge commitment. Like many of the recruits today, with the economy as it is, Jesse was looking at it as a way to keep up with his finacial commitments. I asked him to think long and hard and make sure that he was willing to protect his country and all that may potentially involve to make sure his truck payment was made. I must admit that at first, I wanted to be selfish and keep him here. The closer he was to home, the safer he would be...right? Well, May 19, 2009 came and my husband, Jesse's sister and I took him to the recruiting station and said good bye. These past weeks have been something I will always remember. The emptiness of the house, the waiting by the mailbox, the not wanting to leave the house for fear that his call would be missed, the spontanious happy dance I broke into when the first call came, reading his four line letters over and over after I had just sent out my 5th three page letter in a week... well you all know. I am so proud of Jesse. This experience so far has been good for him. He is different. I believe that only comes from the pride he must be feeling, as he has worked hard and been molded into what will be a fine sailor, as many others have. As he looks forward to graduation from BC (PIR 7/17) I know he doesn't regret his decision. It is because of that, I am profoundly honored to call myself "a Navy mom"!
