Mary, My daughter lives in Queens, NY and my son goes to see her a lot on weekends. I think that your son should be within the mileage limits. I believe my son told me it was 300 miles.

Hi Joanne,

Glad to hear Rich is doing better. That is great that he gets to spend Thanksgiving with family. We don't have any family close. Brandon won't get to come home for Thanksgiving. Since he is going to Hawaii and graduating on Dec. 18th he wants to save up his leave for Christmas.
He is excited about Hawaii, but also nervous. It is a long way away. He is ready to get out of school for awhile and into real Navy life. I am happy for him, but it is also hard. He really wanted to be stationed in Kings Bay which is closest to home, but only one was able to go there. 10/20 of them are going to Hawaii, so he will go with some of the guys he already knows which will be good. He said there is a chance something could change before he gets his official orders, but it seems certain at this point that he will be going to Pearl Harbor.

Hi JoAnne. Glad you were able to spend a llittle time with Rich but sorry to hear about his hand. Hope he is better. Brandon broke his ankle before starting A school and had to go through rehab. He was lucky though, no surgery and it didn't set him back. Hope Rich will get to be home for the holidays too. I will keep him in my prayers for a speedy recovery with no complications. I went the surgery and pin and plate placement on my wrist. It isn't fun and is a tough recovery.

Hi Joanne,

I want to go to Brandon's graduation, but they graduate the week before Christmas. He said they will be put on a plane home as soon as they graduate so I am not sure. He went to the senior grad last week and said it isn't anything special. He would rather us wait and come visit him at his permanent duty station later, where ever that might be. We still haven't decided though. He is hoping to come home for Thanksgiving though. They get a 5 day weekend. Every other holiday or long weekend he has had duty, so hopefully he won't have it that weekend. If we are lucky, we will have him for both holidays.

Okay JoAnne, thanks for letting me know. Here is the link that was posted on the Illinois Statewide Meet and Greet events page.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Bloomington+&state=IL&address=704+McGregor+St.+
I don't know how to make that show up as a clickable link but if you go to the events page you can click from there or copy and paste this link. Just let me know if you change your mind about the ride. I'll at least meet you at the get together!

Thanks,

Hi Joanne. Brandon hasn't had any leave since going in in Dec. other than the short weekend of which most was spent traveling. We are hoping to be able to go see him soon. They are keeping him really busy right now. We are praying for Christmas leave.

Hi Joann. How is Rich doing? Brandon is doing good, just homesick. He is hoping to graduate on Dec. 18th, but there have been technical problems with the training which might delay his classes's graduation.
