I see what you mean Gloria - it's all a matter of perspective isn't it? I have a pic or two to post for Nicki which may brighten her up just a bit. I caught her hubby at graduation and took a few for her. Before he was pinned, during, and after.

Ruth - it is a 7-8 hour drive all the way to CP depending on how many stops you make. We usually drive to Yuma, then stop to eat and continue on unless we have our dog, then it can take a bit longer. We stayed at the cottages on the beach. Your sa...

Cindy - It rained and was foggy for part of those days. I couldn't believe how mild it was while we were there. Great weather but I was aching to get back home to my dry heat.

Melina - My son is stationed in San Diego. As a matter of fact, we are leaving today as we've been here for his FMTB graduation. We had beautiful weather other than the past two days.

Nikki - I'm here sitting in my folks' RV on the beach right now. What is your dh's name?? I'll look him up - I guess 200+ are graduating so give me some distinguishing things about him. We saw them doing PT on the beach this a.m. It was chilly and...

Joan, thanks for your help re: travel to CP.. I have a question on the cottages...I am asthmatic and am allergic to mold/musty smells. Are the cottages taken care of and used a lot or are they closed up for times. I am not picky but I don't want to get sick either. I would love to stay at the cottage but am a little leery about it. We won't be able to bring much so wondering about meals. I am newly diagnosed diabetic so just thought I would ask. I stayed at a motel cottage once..bad move..ground level and bugs, etc so when we complained, they sprayed for them...bad move for me. So thought I'd ask.

Hi Joan, if you don't get there the day before to get a parking pass to park on base, which you have to do with your son, then you need to be there about 7:00a.m. so he can get you on base, there is a parking lot for the Metra close by. That is what we did because we didn't get there soon enough on Thurs. nite. They don't send you passes like at boot camp PIR. The ceremony is about 8:30 and doesn't last too long. You go outside for the raising of the flag, very awesome ceremony. Then you go back inside for the graduation. It is much more personal, you are allowed to get up to take pictures which was nice. Afterwards you can get pictures of your son with his instructors which was nice also. Then be prepared to wait awhile as they have to get all their instructions on what they are doing next. All in all I think we left there about noon. Wasn't too bad. Congrats on your son's graduation and good luck to him. Have a great time attending the ceremony. If I forgot to tell you anything you want to know just send me a message.

Hi Joan! I've missed chatting with you! I was wondering how your son is doing in his "A" school. Did his night terror dreams stop now that BC is over?

Hey Joan- I don't think we will make the Meet and Greet. We are traveling with 2 teenagers, they are not too enthusiastic about that! : ) I do hope to be able to visit with you and Rosemary while we are there, maybe at the hotel since we are all staying the same place. I have really loved getting acquainted with you ladies!

Your son will enjoy A School Corpsman. My son just completed his first year with the Navy this past week and is a Corpsman studying Optometry in Virginia for his C School training. David will be home for a couple of weeks before deploying to Japan for the remainder of his time with the Navy. He will be working in a clinic at a Naval Air Facility about 20 miles from Tokyo and excited. He will be an Optometry Tech fitting and dispensing eye glasses for the Navy.

Hi Joan~ Here is a group that has not been very active but i think it would be a good one for us to be on. The mother I have been talking to her son has just begun A school his PIR was 3-13, Ambers was 3-20 and I have heard there were approx 80 in that group. And this weeks PIR is suppose to have a lot in it also. I don't know about 4-3 PIR. So maybe we can gather these moms together and have a pretty active group to exchange info.
Indoc is where they go over the rules of the barracks and what is expected of them. They have different phases of rules and after completing different tasks and test they get more freedom. I am not sure of everything that is included with each phase. I know the first phase they have to be back in the barracks at a certain time and are not allowed off base.
Have fun at PIR and
