There is a shuttle service from Midway or O'hare to areas around Great Lakes, then most hotels/motels have transport to PIR. The shuttle is a little pricey, I think it was $84 last year for roundtrip service to O'hare....but that may be cheaper th...
you just need to call different rental companies. they all have different policies and the age is 25 for renting not 21 but some will let you rent under the age of 25.

Where are you staying? I think as long as you are 18 or older you can rent a car and you will have to have insurance. Where I stayed there was a car rental place right in the hotel. I can't for the life of me remember where it was. Enjoy your time...

Hi there! My son Justin is going for EOD. He is 19 and is in DIV 836. Have you heard from Josh? I got a letter today and was so excited. He is adjusting well. I will ask him in his next letter if he knows Josh yet. I love you picture.:o) Debby

- ps. bring cash for the tolls through Chicago...I didnt know there would be tolls and luckily i had cash because therse like 5 on your way into Chicago.

- Hey!! IS there any way you can stay at the base hotel? You only have to be 18 to stay there. I think the hotel I stayed at (Courtyard Marriot Waukegan) you only had to be 18 too..you might want to give them a call and check it out. Its only about 8 minutes from the base and its REALLY easy to get back and forth!!

And yes I heard about the no PDA rule at graduation :( disappointing but understandable that they have to look professional while in uniform. But if you do get some alone time at a hotel anything goes! ;)
Have you received letters yet? I got my first ones this past Wednesday! It was so comforting to hear from him!

My boyfriend left May 27th for boot camp so he hasn't been gone too long but I still miss him like crazy!
I saw you posted a blog that your guy is in DIV 836, so is mine! There is a discussion going on in the Boot Camp Moms group for all of those with loved ones in that division and you should definitely look into it!

We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.
Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!

- About me:
- Hey! I was told about this site by my friend's Mom. He went into the Navy and because of that I have gotten to know a very sweet and wonderful woman. She has helped me through the transition of my boyfriend going into the Navy on Memorial Day, of all days. He's decided to go in specializing in EOD. Josh and I have been together for 8 months on June 4th, and I already miss him! We decided to stay together, and I'm happy we both made this decision together. We don't know what the future holds, but we both have the same hopes for the future. I am looking at him being gone as an opportunity to make myself more mature, motivated, responsible, and an over-all better person. I'm going back to school, moved back home to work on my relationship with my parents, and am looking for a good and steady job. So now when he's out of school we will be able to put more onto the plate for our relationship. I am excited for the adventure that lies ahead for him, though of course I am going to miss him terribly!!!

- Was concerned or afraid
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- That Josh is amazingly smart in so many aspects of life. He's going to make smart decisions, and is going to come out as an even better person than he already is. Although he is already in great physical shape, this is going to make him even stronger and push him to the limits. I also realize that this is one of the safer branches of the military, and I know I will have chances to see him thoughout these hard times, and I'll be cheering and encouraging him through letters, emails, and phone calls as well as in person whenever I can.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I'm looking for anyone else who's man is where mine is...
Hello all! This is my first post. I'm pretty new to NavyForMoms,com. I'm trying to find anyone else who's man left for Great Lakes, Chicago on the 28th last month. Josh's leaving schedule was really odd, due to Memorial Day. He left for meps in Los Angeles with his recruiter on Memorial Day, and left for Chicago on the 28th. Does anyone else have some one who arrived to Chicago the same day?
