Hey Josh's Wife, My fiancee just graduated and is now in A school at Great Lakes for FC school. Here is one good thing to look forward to, seeing them again is like falling in love with them all over again. All I could do was stare at Jake, and ho...

I have what you might consider good news...my son is an ET and just finished A school the end of September. He is scheduled for 3 C schools in Virginia starting in January. He will finish in June and then he has orders for shore duty on Whidbey Is...

LOL, I was an ET, I know about broken gear! And yes, the schools are far stricter with liberty than before. The good news is that once I hit my command in the fleet, our duty rotation was twice a month or so, much less than four days. Four section...

I don't think it is bad at all. I moved to the Great Lakes a little early, but next week my husband will be living off base with me. And he will be home every night except for his duty days. Honestly the hardest part for me was boot camp. But that...

School has changed a lot since I was there! All the married guys went home every night and only had to stay when they had duty. I don't remember them having to wait for phases of liberty and all that. Us single sailors had to but from what I remem...

I know I've been giving you answers, in every forum that I've seen you post about this. Again, I stress patience, because your husband isn't even in basic training and you are about to give yourself a heart attack because you are worrying so much....

Generally they will find out if they are ET or FC around the 4th week of boot camp. They don't really get a choice, they will call in any recruits that are classified as AECF and say...you're ET or you're FC. And that's how it works!

You will get a housing allowance and you will be living off base. If you go to the AECF wives club, some of the wives have shared information about their housing costs in GL.

As a wife once your hubby gets PCS orders (permanent change of station orders) you will always be able to move this him. This includes your furniture, children, etc. The Navy will pay for your move, etc.

There are very few rates that the spouses are allowed to move (at the Navy's expense) while they are in A school BUT AECF is one of those rates! So get ready to pack if that is what you want to do. The A school for ETs and FCs can run 6 -9 months and it varies as there is alot of self-paced programs involved, so one sailor may finish the same course in six months and the guy sitting next to him may take eight months.

If I remember correctly - your hubby does not report to boot camp until January (?) I don't know who told you that he would only be stationed in VA or Hawaii but as far as schools, A school definitely in GL, C school will vary depending on if he is FC or ET. Any place there is a ship - you could go there. We have ETs and FCs stationed all over Japan, California, Hawaii, Virginia, Florida, etc. A lot of it will come down to which rate he gets and then what system he will be on and those things you will not know until A school is almost done.

But in the meantime - celebrate and know that if you want to you will be able to move to GL for the A school program. Once your hubby finishes boot camp, he does paperwork that they will authorize the move and his ability to live off base since he is married.

I can understand being concerned but he is building a solid future for his family with benefits (yahoo!) and hopefully you will get stationed some place that you truly love. My hubby did it for 10 years and we spent half of that in Japan which we did love and our son was born there - now he is an FC who just got orders to a ship in Hawaii...so that's pretty sweet! Bottomline as long as you are together that's all that matters! If you have questions along the way - don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Josh's wife! Wanted to welcome you to AECF group. When does Josh report to boot camp? I was a Navy wife for 10 years of an FC and now I'm a mom of an FC who is still in C school. You'll find alot of great support in the group. Let us know how we can be of help.

Yeah I wouldn't want to drive that far alone either. I think I'm taking the train to PIR....I got in the mail yesterday his form for graduation and it says he's graduating August 7th as long as he passes everything. That doesn't seem that far away at all!!! He also got to write like two lines to me on the bottom. He said he wanted to leave at first because they keep you awake for awhile ....he was awake for 44 hours straight. But the rest of the little note sounded like he's doing better. So I'm happy I at least can relax knowing he's okay.

That's so funny...I wanted to teach Kindergarten too! Yeah I wouldn't mind living in VA either....beacause at least it's a drive away from family. I think I'm gonna be a plane ride away from mine....and the funny thing is I don't like flying. But I'm going to have to get over that real fast. Haha.

You're lucky those three places you might live are the best ...you couldn't pick better than that. Where would you like to live out of those choices?
I've been actually going to school part time ever since I had my daughter and that's funny...elementary education is what I always wanted to do. But now that I'm a mother and if I'm homeschooling, I'm just going to stay home. Especially since Vin's going to be away for long periods of time, I won't be able to have a job. I do though want to at least get my associates...I'm only like 3 classes away. What grade did you want to teach?

That's pretty much why Vin joined. He's been going from job to job and he doesn't have any college. He thought this was a great opportunity to finally start supporting his family. (We live with his parents.) You are so lucky you get to move with him when he goes to school. My husband's job is not long enough so they won't move us...but I can move myself there if I choose to, which I might, I don't know yet. He's going to be a mineman and his school is in Texas.....that should be interesting....I never saw myself there! How do you know the three places he might be stationed? My husband heard that his job is in only 3 locations....don't know if that's true though, Texas, California, and a middle eastern country. Our daughter is doing alright...better than expected...she mentions him when were doing fun things....like we went to Chuck E. Cheese today and she wished he was there with us. I am also worried about moving her because she is very close with our families. Moving her a lot I'm sure will be hard but I'm actually thinking about homeschooling her, which might sound weird to some people but if it works for our situation it might be the best for her. Your father was in the Army? Was he in before you were born or when you were growing up? Ohh and another thing I wanted to ask you, does your husband want to make this a career or does he want to just serve his time and get out? And what do you think?

So he just came home one day and said that he wanted to join the Navy? What are his reasons for joining? What job did he pick? Are you nervous about moving? I am. Thats scares me the most and the deployments...being alone in a different state.
