About me:
I am a Retired Navy wife whose son is third generation Navy. I know the Navy wife routine, but am stumped at how much harder the Navy mom route is. I have a daughter at home still who is 15 right now. I am also blessed with an incredible support system in my Mother-in-law who has walked this road TWICE (sons in boot camp). Bless her soul!

I LOVE to read and listen to music. I was a HUGE Backstreet Boy fan, no giggling. Since one of the members left, I can leave as well. I use to work for one of their little brothers, but I can't tell you which one. HInt...he is on my playlist!. I like any kind of music and on most days can be seen with my kids bopping my head right along with them. My favorite authors are Janet Evanovich, Janet Dailey, Charlotte Hughes, Victoria Alexander, and Julia Quinn to name a few.

We have two beagles, Molly (5years) and Maverick (3 months). I am ready to pull my hair out over Maverick, why doesn't he get "no chewing the furniture!!!!"? Most of all, I am tired of hearing..."Molly never did that!" from my husband, Curtis.

I am horrible at emailing and even worse at snail mail (US Postal service). I want to talk to someone, I pick up the phone and talk to them. This has caused me great difficulties in recent weeks. LOL!

I love to laugh, tickle, and just have a good time.
I am here to support or represent my:
Corey
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How to stay calm when he was saying goodbye at 17.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was the best decision he/she could have made

The lyrics for my favorite song in the world.....

The Perfect Fan

It takes a lot to know what is love
It's not the big things but the little things
That can mean enough
A lot of prayers to get me through
And there is never a day that passes by
I don't think of you
You were always there for me
Pushing me and guiding me
Always to succeed

You showed me
When I was young just how to grow
You showed me everything that I should know
You showed me just how to walk without your hands
'Cause, mom, you always were the perfect fan

God has been so good… Continue

Corey Update

Well ya'll, seems like my old Corey is somewhere in the body of this new person, but I am really having a tough time finding him. He is back in Reno with some of his "good" friends for the weekend, and I am sad to say I'm glad. I needed the break from the 1,000 mile stares, the bubbles, and the surliness. It wasn't like they had him all that long, but they sure did enough damage in that amount of time to make me want to scream. There are moments though when I see the light in my son's eye and th… Continue

He'sssssssss BBBBBBBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!

Oh Lordie Lord, the state of NV will not be the same. The Navy may be without one recruit, but this family is back the way it belongs with all it's members tucked firmly in the fold.

Our Corey made it home at 11:35 last night. We had such an exhausting day and two of us were hurt (Curt & Breanne both have knee issues), one of us had been going since 4AM Central time, and one of us is just plain old *waves Hands* that would be me!!!!!!!!! One moment my eyes were closed in the lovely rocking… Continue

Doing the "Happy Dance"!!!!!

I just got off the phone with Corey and he is shipping out on Friday!!!!! We still don't know how he is shipping out, but no matter, there will be a plane ticket waiting for him!!!!! If I have to charter my own plane to make it happen! LOL! Ok, so I could not afford to charter a plane, but it was a great thought! The things we do for our kids!!!

I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your understanding and compassion while dealing with my oldest going off to boot camp and then the Ship… Continue

None of that Sissy Crap

Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good,
but never actually come close to reality?

Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.

You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card-
Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad --I will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislod… Continue

How goofy can you act over a letter?

I was dancing at the communtiy mail box. It was in his handwriting and although it was before he left for Ship 17, at least it was in his NORMAL handwriting and I could see what was going on with him. He had already started complaining about his back hurting and the long lines. I had to laugh, he should have known from all of his previous run ins with the Navy way of doing things...hurry & wait...it wouldn't be any different. I had to laugh when he told me about their first attempt at marchi… Continue

Ship 17

Corey is so distraught he couldn't even talk. I swear if he calls me ma'am one more time I am going to clobber him.

Here is the story. When Corey was born at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, they decided to shove him back inside me because they had made the incision for the c-section to high. In the process of doing that they broke his L-5 vertebre. Hence, he can't touch his toes, he has lower back pain all the time, and he can't (apparently) be a sailor. According to Corey he is in a whole… Continue

I got the Form Letter

I was so excited when I saw the handwriting on the envelope. It was so neat and I could just see his little tongue hanging out to the left as he tried to be neat. This is a future Doctor and he has the penmanship as such. I haven't seen this kind of writing since first grade. LOL!!! My eyes filled with tears as I stuffed the rest of my mail in my armpit and proceeded to open the "letter" from my son. Much to my dismay...it was a form letter that he had wrote "Mom & Dad" on the top of and at… Continue

Long weekend

We are off on our "get away" weekend to Tahoe. A little time for our family to reshape itself without our recruit, and to enjoy the scenery without our recruit, and to figure out our next steps in this adventure without our recruit. Huh, this is suppose to be fun? Ok, parasailing, kayaking, boating, tubing, skiing, skydiving, gliding, among other things should be fun...just not without our recruit.

I hope you all have a safe and happy weekend.

Just a little. Of course the Navy would never take the most direct flight home or the earliest. That would make to much sense LOL. Yes, I've heard from Craig. I receive a letter each week and last weekend I got my first real phone call and then he called me again on Monday. He said everything is fine. But, he missed getting E-2 by one or two questions and 5 push-ups. But, he's still optmistic and glad he joined. I also got his graduation packet today. I sure Corey was going to be apart of it. But, I know the Lord has better plans for him to do something else. He said they have a bunch of talkers but I told him that would end or they'll love push up forever. Oh, PIR is 10/17. I can't believe how fast it's coming. Keep me posted on how things go for Corey once he gets home. And, maybe he can drop a line or two on the site to give all some insight to Ship 17 and Boot Camp. Take care and I think a big Mt Dew would hit the spot for him when he gets off the plane. Talk later Big hug. Glad they didn't take away his sense of humor. Laughter is best cure for alot of things. Hello Joy, Aaron got in at 9:30 exactly. It was so nice to see him walk up the ramp in such a manly fashion. In the small time that he was there it made him a man. He is adjusting just fine, but I loved that he got right up out of bed this morning, shaved, and was ready to get going. He wants to go this weekend to the Air Force recruiting office and see if he qualifies with the small hearing loss he has. Right now he is swimming in the pool with his brothers and sisters and having a blast. He did tell me that he felt horrible when they told him that he had to leave, he went back to his Div and packed his things all the guys including Aaron were crying. The Petty officer said, it's a damn shame that he couldn't stay because he really had alot to offer the Navy with his intelligence level. One things for sure even with keeping himself busy with cleaning when he was feeling better, he couldn't stand being in ship 17. I can't wait for Corey to get out of that ship and get going on what he wants to do. Maybe the boys can get together online and chat sometime. Chat with ya later. Let me know if Corey does get out tomorrow.

Joy, I talked to Aaron about 15 minutes ago, and he will be flying in at 9:30 tonight. He told me that he does know Corey, and that they talked alot while in Ship 17. I told him that you guys only lived a state away from us. Aaron wants to take his paperwork to the Air Force recruiter and show them what his medical reports say, but that he can hear out of the ear just fine. See our family is Air Force, and that is what he wanted to do in the first place, but then he decided he wanted to be different and go for the Navy because it is more of a challenge to get in and he knew that he could do smart wise. He is upset that they made him leave, but is very very happy to be out of the prison sick ship, as he calls it.SHIP 17. I guess there is another young man with the last name Maloy that lives here not to far from us, and Aaron and him are going to get together. So we will see. If the Air Force doesn't work for him I guess he is going to go on to be a Police Officer like he always wanted to. Hope to hear back from you. I'm going to let Aaron get on and talk to some of the other mothers of kids he was in 366 and ship 17 with. He is excited to actually talk to some of the parents of his friends. chat later Micky
