Ok.Now I need some information...

My son left for boot camp and arrived on the 27th. We got "THE" 10 sec call saying he was there. If I count correctly, boot camp would end ( 8 weeks ) on Christmas day. So.do they have graduation on Christmas or the week before/after? I would like to buy my tickets now as we can get a decent price. I would love any info about hotel and such so I can make my plans. I am a new Navy mom.....

I am a new Navy mom. My son joined in January but because he wanted to be a Corpsman, he had to wait until a class was available. Well the wait is almost over for him as he will be leaving for boot camp on October 27th. As this day approaches, I can feel my anxiety levels have increase. Can anyone tell me what to expect as a mom? Can anybody tell me what the Navy expects of the parents? For example, when the graduate from boot camp, is there a graduation ceremony? there is no more grad packet sent out.

When you recieve the form letter it will include the flyer for hotels as well as grad date and how to get to site to print off parking passes(password included in paper). this form letter comes a week or so into training, they usually send it out the day your son is assigned his division and it's filled.

Judy, you can go in the boot camp for moms group, there is a site to tell you the day the graduation will take place. You will get a brochure like 4 weeks before the graduation/PIR (Progress-In-Review) takes place, that includes an invitation for 4, the names your sailor listed, tours of GL. The tickets(invitation)-no fee to get in. You sit where your sailor's division is marked as you will see the numbers listed when you come in. I hope this helps.

I am so proud of my son who will be leaving for the Great Lakes in 23 days. He really is an awesome kid ( well actually man ), who is very patriotic. He loves his country and he loves God. To try to calm my panicked self, my son said " Mom, please don't worry, God is watching over me. I can't argue with that!
