About me:
I'm a single mom with 3 boys. Cory, my youngest had PIR from bootcamp 7/18/08. The house feels really empty...I'm starting to get used to it. I'm a nurse, I grew up an Air Force Brat. I miss my son, but I am so very proud of the adult he has become.

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm JUST NOW learning patience. It was 3 weeks before I received my 1st real letter. I'm very used to contacting my kids whenever I feel like it...through a phone call, text, or email. This waiting to hear from him was a real trial for me. But he seems to be doing fine and I'm learning to wait, He will be the one who initiates contact...not me!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Julie! Great to hear from you....Thanksgiving was awesome...I think I've posted on the Crommelin page, that by the time everyone left, all I wanted was a warm blanket and some Nyquil...(hubbie and I both have been fighting colds all week)...and that's what I got. Yesterday, I didn't do anything....I slept until after noon, went straigtht to the sofa..ate and drank whatever was brought to me, and about 9:30, went back to bed....today I've been a little more productive, but I needed the rest! Glad your holiday was a good one, and your visit with Corey sounds awesome...I don't know if it was you I said this to....but I've posted this somewhere already: it's still a little unnerving to me when I think about it...for the next several years, spending time with my son will be a series of short, pre-planned visits. Still tough to get my head around that....I know it sounds weird, but I never really thought about that before he went in, and reality is tough to digest sometimes. I'm so thankful for the time we've been able to share, believe me, it's just a weird thing to think about the whole process.....guess I'm in a philosophical mood today.

Yea for the page!!! There have been so many to join who we don't hear much from, but I'm glad they are willing to share, at least that they are in the same boat with us! Hopefully we can been of help to them. Thanks for all you do to make it a warm and caring place Julie. Talk with you again soon!

LOL . . . that sound's like a GREAT idea for the guys:)!
Bryan's paperwork is currently in the 'chain of command' up to Captain, to be approved . . . so still waiting . . .
He did say that the planned deployment will have a port stop in Bahrain, so he'd be able to see his high school buddy who's there with his dive team - so that would be something to look forward to:)!

Hiya BFFF . . . no I haven't fallen off the planet:)! Working when it's SOOOOO busy makes the days go by fast, but just wipes me out:)!
Didn't work today, but make 5 pie crusts and the filling for one . . . I'll do the others in the morning because I went to Eric's team's first wrestling match this afternoon/evening: they won the first, lost the second, and were going to get a lot of forfeits in the third so I didn't stay for it . . .
Off to bed soon, as I worked until 10:30 last night and you KNOW I'm NOT a night owl . . . took me until about 1am before I could relax enough to sleep!
Bryan's back in Norfolk and will be driving to North Carolina tomorrow to have Thanksgiving with Bruce's brother and his family - glad he finally will be able to spend a little time with his cousins:)!
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow . . . I'm thankful to have you as my BFFF:)! GIANT HUGS:)!

Yes, we're fine. I'm afraid that with my new responsibilities at Azalea Garden Church I get so busy I don't get on here as often as I would like. We received your contribution to help with Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you so much! One mom of a sailor (female) who just got to Norfolk last night contacted us about her daughter joining us, and we hooked up with her. She'll be going to school at Dam Neck. We should have about 12 young people over for dinner tomorrow!

Hi Julie, I haven't been able to get in touch with Chris for a while now. I sent him the number. but he seems to have dropped off the radar again. CTN thing! I'm about to lose my internet access until Sat. So, I just hope he gets together with some one for the Holiday.

I had another mother offer, but I'm having trouble getting in contact. She wants me to send her daughter Chris' phone number. I just spoke to Chris and because of his rate (he's a CTN) he doesn't want me to give out his cell number. So, if you have that number, I'll pass it on to Chris. I think that is the best way to go, if they have room at the table.

Good Morning BFFF:)! So glad I got to see you yesterday, and that you guys stopped by afterwards so we could really have a chance (even if it was too short) to visit:)!
Storewide meeting this morning (so we're all on the same page for the holidays) then I'm working ALL day . . . the hardest thing about my 'job' is that I no longer have a good sense of a 'work week' . . . what day is it anyway?!?! LOL:)!
