Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Karen, My son is willing to help, but mailing may be a problem. He asked if it was something that could be ordered? he would order online and sedn direct to you. That would be the easiest for him since getting to a post office is not very possible with his hours. i can give you his email address if you would like to contact him.

Hi Karen, I just read your post on sub-moms and had to write. My son is currently in nuke school, and volunteered for subs back in bootcamp. He's home on leave right now (hooray!), and has been talking about his choice. He said he is a little sorry he volunteered for sub, because he thinks opportunities (both for internet education, communication, etc) will be better on a carrier than a sub. We talked about pros/cons, but he still felt he'd made the wrong choice. Reading that your son has been able to work on a degree, and the obvious pride that he has in his service, has made me feel that sub will be a good fit for my son. I know my son is intensely loyal and likes to be part of a well-oiled machine, and I think sub will be great for him.
Tell your son thanks for his service for me. I am so impressed by everything you've written. Sounds like he's an amazing young man.
