Sorry to say I will not be able to make this one. My mom passed away VERY unexpectedly on the 12th, one day after seeing her grandson graduate from boot camp. I will be in Michigan taking care of her estate from the 21st through Oct 4th.

I just got the call that he made it through battle stations and received his navy cap this morning!!! We are leaving tomorrow for Illinois. Can't wait to see him!! Incidentally, my appendix ruptured last Wednesday and I underwent emergency surgery...

Karla, Can't wait to see you at the Meet and Greet on the 22nd. Hope we have a lot of people there, but a smaller group is always a great joy as well. At least it isn't so noisey that we can't hear one another. I have pictures!!LOL

We didn't get a lot of time at the last Meet and Greet to get to know each other, but would love to have the chance to chat more at this upcoming one on August 22. I am hoping that we have a good group of moms coming. The more the merrier.

Hi Karla, my name is Lynn and my son's name is Damien (duh). We are from Tampa Florida. He left MEPS on July 14th also. Got the quick phone call, the box and the form letter. Waiting anxiously now for another 'real' letter and/or a phone call. Damien is 20 and his rate is AVE (something like that) with his A school being in Pensacola....back to his home state....LOL....he will be training to work on computer and weapons systems of aircraft. Keep in touch! Lynn

Sorry to hear he's having a hard time I know my son is having a hard time also... He called from Medical Friday and he was having back problems from a previous football injury... I also think he was thinking he had made bad decision I talked to some Navy vets today they all said that they also went though those same feeling in the first 2-3 weeks so I think what he is feeling is very normal... Just stay positive when you write and talk to him the next weeks should get easier I hope for all of us!

Hey Karla! I was glad to meet you yesterday. Had a good time. Glad that you asked me to be a friend, you beat me to it. But, I am kinda slow. LOL Anyway, hope you get to hear from your son soon. It's difficult when you can't talk to your own kid! You'll just have to store up all your advice and stuff and hit him with it all at once! Take care, talk to you later.

We did have fun at the Meet and Greet. I only wished that I was able to get to know you a little better. Personnally, I don't think your picture does you any justice, you are far more attractive in person! I don't take a good picture at all, so I try to stay away from all cameras!
