Thanks for the input. He really wants to be in the Navy, has to work on his running speed. They said he can go back after the recruiter here confirms he can pass the PFA run. He did so well all through boot camp then for this to happen was really ...

About me:
We are currently waiting for my son to leave for boot camp which is scheduled for the end of October. I am very proud of him but I have to admit I also feel a lot of trepidation about him going in concerning the current situations going on in the world.
I am here to support or represent my:
Andrew
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I have to back off and let him deal with all the details necessary to make the most of this opportunity.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
The Navy has a lot to offer

Saw your post in Ship 17 group. If your child quals to come back in the Navy they will have to get waivers (for what ever he is being seperated for now.) Than he will get a new contract, he may or may not get the same rate he signed up for this time. Depends on the Needs of the Navy. Also it is very hard for peole to come back in the Navy after being seperated for one reason or another, the Navy is currenlty down sizing. It will also depend on the RE-code your son gets.

Hi Carla, Welcome to Ship 17 Moms. I hope your son can get thru the PFAs and graduate. If he really want's it and is willing to deal with being on hold in ship 17 or 6, he may be able to stay in. The Ombudsman is a good person to talk to. If it has gotten to Legal, you can call them and ask to have them call him and have him call you when he gets to Legal.

Hi Karla!
Britt was sick and SIQ (sick in quarters...restricted to bed) for 2 days. Apparantly a really bad cold was going around. She's better now, but as a result she lost her position as a flag carrier for pir. She was pretty bummed out about it, but said she would work really hard to try to earn it back. I hope Andy's feeling better now. I don't think it will delay their graduation. She did say they could possibly lose up to 30 in their div due to failure on the pft tests. They just took their 2nd one last week, and she said if you failed both you would be put back to training week 1, day 1. In other words, they would start completely over. She did very well on her first one, and hopefully again on the second one. I think I would lose my mind if she got set back. I told her we bought all non-refundable flights, so she has to really "hunker down" and do her best...nothing like putting more stress on her, huh. I hated to tell her that, but she had to know. Besides, she paid for her own ticket, so I know she doesn't want to lose that money. Did you ever hear from Andy about his travel plans. If he made any of his own arrangements, and you have access to his bank account, then you could see if there is a charge. I think they all had to call home if rtc had not received any confirmations...whether or not they made their own, or if family made them. Are you going to the meet and greet? We are, but I don't know if we're going to the Christmas Eve dinner. I hope I didn't ramble too much here!

Karla,
Brittany is also in 043. I don't know when we will get another call from her, but last time she called, she asked if I knew a mom on here with a son named Alonzo. Silly me...I was looking for someone with a son's first name! I told my husband I probably would not be able to figure out who it was because we only use first names. Anyway, I will relay this info to Britt to give to him first chance I get. It might be quicker (and more dependable than email) if you put it in a letter to him. She said they get mail all the time, not just once a week. I think it only takes a few days to get to her also. She also goes to chapel service, so I think they've made friends with each other. Nice to have a common thread, huh?

Karla, in response to your post about travel plans:
I originally sent an email to this address: rtc.pao@navy.mil and I asked if this was the email address to send my sons Itinerary to. They responded within hours and gave me this address:
scheduling.office@navy.mil. I sent my sons Itinerary there first thing Thursday morning, but I haven't gotten a response yet. I don't think I will though either. Josh called on Wednesday and said they wouldn't be allowed to call again until after Battlestations.

Hi Karla,
My son is also in Div 043. I know that my son talks about a friend from FL but he doesn't know anyone's first name? Isn't it funny that they live together in such close quarters for such a long time and still only know last names. Typical guys I guess. Women are just more nosey.
