- About me:
- I am a stay at home mom, although I feel funny saying that since our son is in the Navy and our daughter is a college freshman at Youngstown State University. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this year. I have always been proud of my family and now I am proud to be a part of the Navy family!
My son, Rob, is an AZ and a 3rd Class Petty Officer aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. He has earned both his Air Warfare and Surface Warfare pins during this deployment.

- When I heard “Navy,” I:
- Was proud and encouraged it
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- #1 - That, as mom, I am no longer his commander-in-chief.
#2 - He has done very well in the Navy and he has done it without me there to push or nag him about anything. So it is time for me to just shut up, sit back and enjoy watching him succeed all by himself!!
#3 - And that it is finally possible to be both a parent and a "buddy" with my son. YAY!
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
