My son is also on hold in GL. His PIR was 3/27/09. I was hopeful that he wouldn't have to spend another winter in Chicago. He's a tough kid and handles the delays much better than I do. I miss him a lot ... often!

Hi Kelly! I'm a little confused. My son initially thought he would be in A school for 8 months. When he called a few days ago, he said 18 months. Can you please enlighten me. Is ET training that long or is he waiting on another school or...?

Hi Kay... Thanks for the well wishes for Jerm. How long is A school for Eric??? We lived in San Diego for awhile and he will enjoy the area if he gets to go there. At least he will not be as cold as the guys who went through winter at GL!!!

Hi Kay ... I just keep going back and forth about the locker thing. I guess we'll just haul it all with us (and at least he can check his email in the hotel!) and decide once we get there and can talk to him about it. I wrote to him and asked if that's something he'd like, but sheesh, those letters take FOREVER! I've been totally spoiled by email and cell phones!

Take care and have a great weekend!

Hi Kay... Jeremy is a Hospital Corpsman in A school at GL. I think there are a number of A school at GL. What is your son going to school for??? And congrats on a new Sailor!! I have only been in the loop of things since my son left for BC Sept. of 2008, graduated BC Dec. 5th 2008 and started A school Jan 5th. He will be graduating A school April 10th and will go overseas to a hospital in Naples, Italy... I will have him home for about 2 weeks before he leaves. Your son has so much in front of him, tell him good luck and if I can answer any questions please ask.

Thanks so much, Kay. Congrats to both you and your son! Someone said they rented a storage locker near base, so I'm mulling that over too. This is all very tricky and weird for me as I am not from a military family. So many rules that I just don't understand! LOL.

I will be interested to hear what happens in the next few days for your son. Is he going to corpsman school too?

Hi there! Yes it's beautiful most of the time here in Florida. We do love it. I have no idea yet about his grad date. His recruiter will be here at my house tommorow to explain the contract he signed since it said ship date of March 9th Lol. He said he was going to join the NUKE program but it seems he must wait on a waiver for a D he made in math in ninth grade. They said he shouldnt have a problem but we shall see.
I am hopeful but my son is prepared to do another job if necessary. We don't know even when he goes to BC yet. They say he will do some sort of training here near my home first.
We are just at the hurry up and wait part now :) Its great to get to know you. Grats on the graduation and keep us up to speed! <3 Hugs froma Navy mom
