When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be a "sanctuary." Calling Mom should be comforting. Alway try to be upbeat, supportive, and on his side... he has so many pressures and really needs a cheerleader, not a coach.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hello Kaye! I currently live in Michigan (just north of Elkhart), but lived in Granger for 13+ years and my son, who is leaving for BC end of April, graduated from Penn High School.  I would like to know if there are any other Penn grads out there. I feel like I'm both a Michigan and an Indiana Mom. I'd like to join the Indiana Moms' group, if that's okay?

Good morning Kaye...

AvonMom2Adam is also interested in a get together in Indy...I am assuming she probably lives 'around the corner' from you as she lists AVON as her home.  Since they both asked maybe we can do a dinner just to see about interest?

Hi Kaye!  Thank you for the great welcome note!  My son is home on leave for another week.  He just graduated in Groton, CT.  He is on the "Gold" crew of the USS Alabama.  He goes to Bangor on March 5th.  I know that I have a lot to learn!

HI Kaye, thanks for the info. I still have not heard from my son which is unusual but I'm sure it;s because they are very busy. Glad to hear that your son got a little reprieve and that you got to hear form your son. Hope you have a great Year!

Kaye thank you for the welcome! Sorry I didn't reply sooner but it has been crazy with all of the Holiday happenings. My son is on the Gold crew and is an MT. He won't be home for the holidays since he just arrived there at Thanksgiving. I will be going this January 12th to visit with my daughter though so that will get me through Christmas : ) I would like to find out more about half way boxes and calendar squares ( I saw mention of it on NFM ) I just want to make sure he knows we are thinking of him since is is single. Thanks for welcoming me & I hope your Holidays are wonderful.

Thanks for the welcome. I wish I could attend the dinners in Avon, but I cannot see well enough to drive at night. Maybe this summer when the days are longer...My daughter just graduated boot camp and is on hold at Pensacola to be a CTT. I'm very happy to have your group to learn from!

Thanks so much for the invite and info!  How welcoming!  I would LOVE to meet with other Navy moms!  I can't on the 21st of this month, but I would like to in the future.  I am overwhelmed with navigating the sites and just trying to get acclimated to how to get info.  My son is an ET on the USS Stockdale.  I miss him so much but he sounds like he is doing good.  I look forward to meeting you in the future!  Thanks so much again!  Suzy

Kaye, I meant to get back to you last week. I sent off a letter to our Officer Girl, hehe, with a questionnaire she could fill in and mail back to me. I gave her a little info about me, too. I am leaving tomorrow for a trip to Maryland to see my family (that is where I was born and grew up) with my sailor. I am meeting him at the airport and we will board the same flight. I will give that web site a look see when I get back next week. I have made a notation on my very handy, dandy calendar. If I don't keep one, I get lost. LOL. I may not be able to get a package out to our sailor by Thanksgiving but definitely by Christmas. I can't wait to see a letter from her in my mail box. Hope all is well with you and yours. Have a great day.
