About me:
Mom of a Nuke, who's serving on the sub USS ALABAMA in Bangor, WA. Still crazy in love with my hubby after 26 years. Daughter is still home; a Senior in high school. And sometimes I love my mini-schnauzer more than all of 'em!
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be a "sanctuary." Calling Mom should be a comfort. Try to always be upbeat, supportive, and on his side... he's got so many pressures and really needs only a cheerleader, not a coach.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Than you for your kind words, not that I am a total mess, but this is all so new and overwhelming. A little taken back with how emotional I would be. This whole site and words from people like yourself mean so much. Thank you

So what is sad is that I do not know what he is going in to. I do know he is headedto Groton. From other posts I am assuming that means BESS. It looks like NUKES go to CA. I will have to ask him in my next letter.

Thank you so much for the kind words! This is a wonderful place to get information and support from others who have been through the same things. It helps to know we're not alone.

Kaye,

Not sure I'm doing this right, but here goes.

My son is also a Nuke MM. He is in Groton right now learning to weld but will be going to Hawaii to serve on the USS Hawaii in a couple of months. I have not had time to look at all your information above, but I will as soon as I can. Thanks for taking the time to help those of us who don;t know what is going on! Have to get to work!

Thank you Kaye! I don't know how experienced I am...my husband and I just got married in April before he deployed with his Army National Guard Unit this Summer :). He and my son were on deployment at the same time which was incredibly stressful. My son has returned (October) but my husband remains in Afghanistan. He will be coming home next weekend for his 2 week R&R leave and then will have to return to Afghanistan until July. I live on the West side (Brownsburg) so I would love to be able to attend a dinner, maybe in February! Take care! Beth
