Dear Bea, well if your Houstonian loves you, then I love you! I'm assuming he'll be watching THE game on Thursday? I agree with Paula, that IS an interesting way to see the son -- kidnap the girlfriend and the sailor is sure to follow! Hook 'Em.....

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be a "sanctuary." Calling Mom should be a comfort. Try to always be upbeat, supportive, and on his side... he's got so many pressures and really needs only a cheerleader, not a coach.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Kaye, is there going to be a "Westie" dinner in December? I am hoping to make it to another one, and if the rotation is the same, I should be able to attend. Hope you are doing well post op!

Hi Kaye,
Thanks for the note. I'm still adjusting to my son being gone and his empty room. Got his first call last night to say he's doing fine. I'm glad there's a site to share with other Mom's going through the same thing and loads of info. Take care.

Hi Kaye, Glad that you are feeling much better. I am still learning the Navy acroynms, (PIR)I did attend the graduation and I was so happy. The photo is on the mantle at my home as well as my mothers we are really happy that he survived. He is now in Groton. I think that he will be there a year. I am looking forward to my first visit there.

Hi Kaye! Thanks for your note; I hope you are feeling better. Everything in my life is incredibly busy and hectic, so I haven't been on the site much. I'm looking forward to seeing you at Red Lobster tomorrow evening. Regardless of what's going on at school, I'm "checking out" no later than 4:45 tomorrow. I definitely need some "Maggie time" with friends. Rick's schedule is just as hectic, so we decided since this Friday is our anniversary, we would make reservations at Eagle's Nest and treat ourselves to a great evening. See you tomorrow!!

More women have it done than generally believed. Women I know who have had one tell me everything is just fine now. No after effects or anything. I am glad you are doing well and your son was able to come see you.
