Now that I know what week and day my son is on, wasn't there a post somewhere about looking up and and finding out exactly what they're doing on that day? Am I making any sense?

I agree...when they go to college they can come home for the summer, weekends, and holidays. You can call them anytime and still plan vacations together. This is more like an end to their childhood and living at home. WAAHH!! Now I'm depressed. :(

Hi Kelly, Just found out my son's division is 907. I see on the Navy website that division 906 PIR is 12/30. Don't know if they will add 907 to that or if 907 will be on 1/8/10. I got his address from his recruiter. Finally I can send off a letter!

Great Kelly, I am glad to hear you will be at graduation. I sure hope we get the chance to meet. Well even though our sons will not be going to the same school after boot camp I am sure they will meet within the next 8 weeks. My son said he only heard something said about "Christmas" but I wouldn't hold your breath. If it would happen that sure would be a bonus wouldn't it?? Did you get your call? Did it sound like the rest of ours?? :) Now I guess it is the "dreaded box" that we will get next. Ugh!!! I just want this next 8 wks to go by fast. I am sure the boys do too.

Hi Kelly!!
Yes I guess our son's are in the same class, that is great. Did Nick just graduate this year? Dylan did, I was just wondering because alot of the guys we met at MEPS were in there early 20's and I was really thinking how much of a baby my son was and then of course worried even more!! What school will Nick be going to after Boot camp? Dylan is going to Texas for MMA school. We plan on flying out to graduation, that should be so exciting. Thank you for requesting me as a friend, I need all I can get right now. It is so nice to talk to other mom's going through the same emotions and feelings right now.

Hi Kelly, Thanks for writing. I haven't been on this site for 10 days or so because I have been busy helping Steve be prepared to leave! He left 2 days ago and he hasn't given us a call from GL yet. Has your son left yet? I don't remember his date but know it is this week. Have you heard from him yet? Will you be going to his graduation? Are you flying if so?

Encourage him to always do his best...it will help him get placed on a sub or carrier, or may get him chosen to attend special schools. My best to you and your family!

Congrats on one fine son!!! The Nuke program is very selective. Your son will want to start now researching the three main jobs for Nukes, MM, EM, ET. Some time towards the end of boot camp he will visit a counselor and based on his list and the needs of the Navy, he will be placed in one of the three rates. As far as boot camp goes, he will send home his box of civilian clothes with a form letter, (you will get it sometime the first two weeks). Write him encouraging news notes. They don't have a lot of room at boot camp, so you won't be sending him anything, and 'food' packages are not allowed.
Nuke school for MM is approx 15 months, depending on the length of time to 'class up', which means they are holding for enough sailors to make a class.
Nuke school for EM and ET is approx 18 months, depending on length of time to...
He will want to make sure that his clearance paperwork is started now...this will also lessen the wait for class up. They have to have their clearance before they can start Nuke school also. Need to get to work. Let me know if you have any other questions.
