About me:
My name is Kelly, and I am one very proud Navy Mom!! My son is 3rd generation Navy, and has dreamed of being in the military all his life. My husband, Kevin, was in the Navy Reserve (SeaBees) when we got married 20 years ago. We have 2 other children, Joey 10, and Jessi 7. One of the happiest days in my life was the day we got "the box" from our son at boot camp. I never thought I would be so excited to get his dirty clothes back! But it was some form of contact with our 18 year old son... and we loved it! Jake graduated from boot camp on Aug. 22 - and is now at Corps School at Great Lakes. Him having his cell phone has made a huge difference! We get to hear from him alomst daily now! So hang in there new Navy Moms - there really is a better life after boot camp!
I am here to support or represent my:
Jake
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Letting go, and yet still being his mom... its a fine line we moms walk when our kids are grown.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi Kelly
My son is in week 4 of bc, graduates 9/26. He is going to be an EO in the Seabees, his A school is in MO. I read that your husband was a Seabee and wondered what his job was and where he went after A school.
You must be very excited graduation this week. Good luck and enjoy!

Hi, Kelly - Thanks for the note! Russ is in day 2 :) ... no doubt deep in P-Week. Don't know what ship/div he's assigned to yet; hope to find out shortly so I can send him a care package!

Kelly, there may yet be a chance for a connection... I'm sending a friend request. (Look up at the tip top left side of your page. next to your name is an envelope-for e-mail- and a person. Click on the little person, then my name to accept.) I need to send you a private info question! Talk to you soon. =)

Hi Kelly, was posting on Pegi's page and couldn't resist dropping in on you. My hubby was born and raised in Redmond. Wouldn't happen to know the Shoubridge family from Duvall would you? They are old friends of ours. Thought I'd ask, the world can be a small place, the military even smaller!

ha ha, the girlfriend always get the first cut of time. I got all excited the second time we got letters from GL, because there was not just one envelope, but TWO! One was really thick too. Guess who that one was for?!? :-P He had forgotten to take her address to BC so part of my short two page letter was "Mom, could you please make sure and forward this letter to L for me?" Sure son, isn't that what Mother's are for? :) Had to do it two weeks running. Good thing I really liked the girl! LOL

Hope all is going well for Jake. I'll be praying for him. Did he take a Bible with him? Mark read his every night. Mark just took his third test at Corps school. so far, so good. Keep in touch!

Dear Kelly,
I enjoy helping out, especialy the Boot Camp mothers.
I hate telling moms that news about them not knowing for a fact about if child is graduating or not. I hate being the bearer of bad news. But I hate to have the poor parents but the plane tickets, and can't get a refund. Plane tickets are expensive.
When Kim graduated, she said, three of the kids from her Division, failed Battle station. Those poor parents were probably stuck with non- refundable or non transferrable.
You were blessed withthat air line. My husband checked out Jet Blue , American Airlines, and United. The tickets were non transferrable. The transferables, were 3 times the price of a regular ticket.
I probably have some moms mad at me, but I am telling them how the Navy has this set up. I didn't make the rules.
I met moms at the PIR get together, the night before the graduation. Four of them told me their child called to say they're graduating, that morning, Thursday morning. It happens.
Well you take care. Please keep in touch.
Take care and God bless.
Barbara
