Jessica, My son Jordan has said the same thing...about being kicked out if they fail. I too find it hard to believe that the navy would invest all that money to train lthem just to kick them out. I could see them re-assigning them or something lik...

I don't have an answer for you, but suggest that Jordan try to get you on the list by going through his class lead. A school is a small ceremony and only a handful of parents were there. The room is historical for Naval sub history, otherwise the ceremony is fairly uneventful, until the fire drill, which forced us to rush out of the bldg. I had never seen so many uniforms in my entire life in one small location. It basically looked like the deck at boot camp graduation, only we were in a parking lot.
Power School grad is the big one for the Nukes and the one you don't want to miss. I didn't get to go to Prototype grad, although I was in the area, it was over by the time I got there.

For your Sailors safety and your privacy, consider removing your last names from your page as is recommended by the administration of N4M :)

Kimberly, I haven't heard anything about Thanksgiving, but they do stand down at Christmas. Check Mr. Kelly's comment on Oct 11 ( I think ) Nuke Mom Group he is a chaplin at Goose Creek and gives info. on Thanksgiving Dinner for the sailors the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Kimberly, Your son goes to Goose Creek on Weds? Well, he's gonna like it! Great rooms, good food, and a little freedom. When they first get there, he will have a few days of Indoctrination. When classes start, there are mandatory study hours. They do not study in their rooms, due to classified material they study in classroom area. The better he does with his work, the more freedom he gets. After 4 weeks, he will progress to Phase 2 liberty which means civilian clothes on weekends. He can leave the base but has to be back around midnight. After another 4 weeks, he will progress to Phase 3 liberty. This means civvies also in the evening and can be gone overnight on weekends. This, of course, is dependent on his grades, homework, etc. My son, Jeff, has his final exam for A school tomorrow. He has done very well and we are confident he will do a great job on this test, too. But, being a mom, I will be very glad when he calls with the results. Jeff and his classmates will T-track until after the holidays and then start Power School. So, welcome, to a fellow Nuke mom. If you think of other questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line. Pat
