About me:
I am the mother of 3 girls. My oldest daughter is actually my step daughter and is married and lives in Texas with her husband and two children. My first born is the Navy Girl and left for BC on 6/1/09, my 44th birthday...not the greatest birthday :( My youngest daughter is a freshman in high school and is already thinking about joining the Navy when she graduates.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm learning that letting go is hard, but that my daughter is excited about joining the Navy and starting her career. I try and look at this time as an adventure for her and me as well.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Good morning LaVonda,
Yes, that is my Chrissy, her legal name is Christina, Chrissy is her nickname. And she is from Sacramento. She grew up in Pioneer and moved to Sacramento when she got married. Chrissy is 24 years old. And getting a divorce, her divorce will be final in July, but they settled everything before she left. Chrissy never lived in Sutter Creek, I moved here with my youngest daughter when I divorced. Yes, I got a real letter from her dated 5/31, she said she likes the weather. I am gald to hear our daughters know each other! Very Cool! - Vicky

Hi LaVonda,
Is Lakeport near Mendocino? I think you about a 3 hour drive northwest of me. I live in the foothills, Sutter Creek in Amador County. This is the first time my daughter, Chrissy has lived out of state. It is so hard to wait for snail mail letters. It will be nicer when they finish Boot Camp. I hope she will get email then.

Hi Lavonda-it's good to hear you daughter arrived safely. I am hoping my son will call today, but I'm not stressing about it. My oldest son is in the Nat'l Guard so this basic training stuff is not new. It has been easier this time around. Yes, Greenville is north of Terrill. My navy boy was born here, so going to GL is going to be different from anything he has ever know here in TX.

Hi there - I just read your post about your daughter calling on her cell phone and thought you might appreciate my experience. My daughter called me from her cell when she got to the USO at O'Hare (she is 23 and lives in Florida and I in Illinois). I waited for 1 1/2 days for "The Call" it never came. I called her recruiter in Florida and he confirmed she arrived and he gave me her address. I followed N4M's over the entire boot camp and found that it's different for all recruits. Some RDC's let them call more frequently than others. Keep your cell phone with you at all times but don't make yourself crazy because someone else got a call & you didn't. After the initial letter from the Navy that she gets to write 2 lines at the end of the letter (you'll receive about wk 2) you should start receiving mail from her weekly if she writes. I felt so bad when my daughter didn't call when I would see other mom's talking about their calls. The only call I received from her was 1 week prior to PIR (which was last friday!!!!) I was already at GL when she finished Battle Stations (their final testing) so I did not get that call either, but she was right up front carring a flag at Graduation. Write her daily, it means soooo much to them. Get everyone she knows to write!!!! Be strong, she will be fine. Live by the words "No News Is Good News" and believe me the 8 weeks will fly by faster than you think. God Bless.
