About me:
Mother of 5 sons, Jason 26, Jared 20, Joshua 19, Jacob 16, and Jadon 11. Married to my hard working, great husband Tony.....
Joshua is our first son to join the Navy.
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Thinking about joining
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To be supportive of his choice and to encourage him. To let him know we're always here for him and so very proud.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Will do, Laurie. I'll give the message to Al this morning. Glad it was your "Sulli" :-) I don't know last names so I guessed. Yes, they work together. ABE V/2 Same workstation. Actually, I think that Josh's rack is right under Al's rack. Everything seems to be just fine. Very busy, but not so busy that they don't have time to tease each other (Josh put chips in Al's mouth when he feel asleep in the workstation ;-)

Hi Laurie. Don't know if this belongs to you. If not...who is Sulli's mom? Got this in an e-mail from my son: "Sulli wants me to tell you to tell his mom that he loves her!"

Hi,Laurie. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I hope your son is OK. Mine seemed to be doing better, but just last week we received another email about how unhappy he is. I am worried as he is telling us he wants to go to Iraq or Afghanistan and is joining the IA program. Not much I can do, but we worry every day. I wish I could do more to support him from afar. What does your son do onboard?

Hi Laurie, I'll work with you and Diane on V-2 also. Next time Megan calls I'll ask her to talk to her Chief to see if we can get a count of V-2.

Hi Laurie! I am doing great. How are you? Rusty is doing well. He going through C school and a couple of other schools. He should finish up by March. I went out to SD to see him back in July. He is coming Oct 9th through the 12th. I am very excited to see him. He bought a motorcycle...hmmm.. He hada good friend tragically killed a few weeks ago. They were out at dinner. They dropped Rusty off and as they were headed to a movie their car was hit and one of the Sailors was killed. Rusty was sitting in that very seat before he was dropped off. I am so sorry for the family that is grieving the loss but thankful Rusty had gotten out of the car. It was a terrible time for him. How is Josh? Trying to catch up with what is going on. I just havent had the time to get on lately. Try to do better in the future!

I think he just made time to email us because he knew we were worried about that package. He said doesn't have time for anything. So they are very busy. that was first email since they left port and only 3 sentences. So i would'nt worry too much. I know that's hard to do.

thank you laurie, He called the last night they were there and don't think we will hear from him again until they get to port. He said their job is such long hours. He can't wait to do the cranking part. He said they don't get a chance to do anything but work & catch some sleep. Hows Josh doing?

Laurie, I think he likes it even though he complains and he says he is bored. I am reading between the lines that he likes it a little. He works in the engine room and he is learning things that will help him get a job when he gets out- at least that is what my husband and I keep telling him. I think all of our sailors are growing up fast in the Navy.
It has been difficult with my mother-in-law but I think I found her a wonderful place. She shows signs of dementia and she need constant care and she is getting just that where she is. Still isn't easy to go through all this change, if you know what I mean. Thanks for listening. Linda
