About me:
Hi, I am the mother of 4, 3 boys, one in heaven, and one girl. The grandmother of 8, yep, I was a child bride. 18 years old when I got married. We are a Christian family and know our son Steve is alive and well and we will see him again. This we know and this we are sure of. Also this is why it is so hard to be separted from Daniel right now. The nest is empty. Accept we babysit our grandchildren a lot. Bob and I love to go to Hawaii and we took a trip just before Daniel left for GL

Maybe I can add some pictures later.

one year in the navy

In a few days we will be passing the one year mark of Daniels joining the navy. As I look back on that year, one thing I know for sure, God answers prayer, and two, Thank God for navyformoms.
I was on the internet within hours of his leaving for boot camp. Somehow I stumbled onto navyformoms, and there they were, other Moms knowing exactly what I was going through. Steve had passed away 6 months before and I was not ready to let Daniel go. Some asked how I could do it, I had to laugh, I had noth… Continue

PIR 07/03/08

I had to get up at 1:30a.m. to be at the airport in Eugene on July 2nd, so I never went to the get together. We did make it to the base shortly after 6:30 though for the ceremony. I was surprized how many were already there. Daniels Div was right in front of us and he carried one of the flags so we got some good pictures I hope to get posted soon. We didn't go to Chicago or Six Flags or anything like that. He said he just wanted to take it easy. We went to the pool, walked around the Gurnee Mall… Continue

Kelly seems to be liking his training. It is Expeditionary Combat Skills Training. It is what is say's learning what to do in combat.
My daughter in law is still stuck in Washington. She has some work on her teeth the Navy is wanting her to finish before she can go. Today she had her wisdom teeth taken out. I feel sorry for her since she is all alone and having her wisdom teeth out and trying to take care of a 19 month old. I pray it all goes well for her. My grandbaby is 19 months old. it should be fun to watch her open christmas packages this year. Is Daniel going to sign back up after his first contract is over?

Kelly is going to be Mobie Security Forces in Guam so they are sending him to Mississippi for training for 1 month. He won't be on a ship but on a small craft (30 ft boat). He will be doing water security & land security in different places. I have read that they are deployed75% of thier time he said 50%. It is completly different from what he was doing in Washington. They have to stay physically fit... they work out constantly. I have a video on my page of Mobile Security Squadran 7 You should check it out. Kelly doesn't tell me much about it I learn everything of his sight or the internet. So how long has Daniels been in Washington? How long is he suppose to be there (2 yrs)? I pray for you that your son gets to remain in Washington longer so he can be close. of course he may be looking to move on to something else I don't know. My son was ready to move on to something more exciting.... My son called me yesterday to let me know he was called in and worried why but he recieved the Medel of Good Conduct......

I have been looking at the price of tickets to go to Guam and see my son and his family. Tickets are very expensive from 1500.00 to 2000.00 depending. I plan on going to see them at least once while they are in Guam. If I have to get a second job I will do it. I don't know how visiting will work since his next duty will have him deployed 75% of the time. I am only praying that he will know far enough in advance to let me know when that will be so I can get tickets when he has time at home. When I go I plan on taking a very long vacation from work. It won't be a 1 or 2 week vacation thats for sure. We are also planning to use AIM (using a web cam) to stay in touch so I can see my grandbaby and she can see me. My son leaves this saturday for his training but his wife will still be in Washington for a few more day's getting things taken care of. My son spent 3 years in Washington even though he was only suppose to be there 2 years. Maybe your sons time will be extended in Washington and he can stay close.

Hi Leta, how are you doing? Does your son like it in Washington?
My son complained about the rain but just a few months ago he told me how much he liked Washington. He met a lot of nice young men up there that are MA's including many Marines. He is pretty excited about his next duty. Was your son working the other day when they had all the excitement? My son offically reenlisted that day so he was a little worried that it wasn't going to happen but he said it went like it was suppose to. Did your son know anyone from 2nd division? Lately I have been really struggling with tears that come when I think about my son moving across to the other side of the world. It was one thing to have him in another state but know another country. WOW

Hi Leta Nice to hear from you. I haven't been on in awhile. Daniel was able to come home at the beginning of the month for about 10 days. It was so wonderful to see him after not seeing him for 11 months. Except for the picture you posted. He made it home to see his twin brother before he left for Iraq. David was only here for 2 days but it was awesome to see the 2 of them together and they enjoyed each other so much. I'm am so thankful that Daniel was able to be here to see him. It was a great 10 days. Sorry to hear of your Daniel's accident my Daniel said he was there I'm so happy that he's better. Thanks for the note Talk to you again soon.

my son is in 2nd Division at Bangor. Actually right now he is on his 2 weeks where he has to go around and get signatures so he isn't with his division anymore. I don't remember what her called it but you probably know. He will be leaving real soon for his training. Did you like Guam when you lived there?

Leta,
Yes I heard just today on the group page that Kaye had to cancel her trip but that her son was coming home on leave. I hope everything is ok for her. I'm glad also that your son is coming home for Thanksgiving. I also understand your sadness that he isn't going to take more time off but I do have a thimble sized insight to share. My daughter went through a bit of withdrawal from me after she got to WA and had settled in. I felt like I was really losing the closeness her and I had. I think it's something they go through. Maybe he feels if he's home for too long either he'll get bored or he might think it will be harder when he leaves. Catherine just told me the other day that she has decided to take leave when I am there visiting so her and I can spend all our time together!!! I am so happy - I think this trip will be so good for the two of us!!!! How is his job going? Could he be worried that if he is gone too long it might affect his work situation? I guess we just need to grab all the little bits of their lives that we can get now!! I miss all of my children now and I know you have a more intense empty nest sadness going on. I'm here for you if you just need someone to talk to!!! Wish you were closer to WA so I could get to see you when I'm up there. But we can keep in touch here. I'll try not to be a stranger once I get through with this season!!!!! Hugs to you!!!!!

Leta,
So sorry you have missed me on the Bangor group. I always keep up with the posts on there but I started a part time seasonal job for Halloween so I've been working long hours on my feet all day (which I'm not used to so my ankles are killing me!!!) By the time I get home late at night I usually just read and then go to bed!!! Did I tell you that I'm coming out to WA in 2 weeks and three days!!!!!! I am visiting with my sailor daughter!!!!!! I will be there for 9 days!! I can't wait!!

Hi Leta ~ Yes, my son is stationed at Bangor. He's a nuke on the Alabama. We live here and I would love to meet up with some other Bangor Moms too. Finding this website and having Kaye help me navigate through some things has been so great.

Leta, thank you for the note..... My son is stationd in Bangor at this time. He leaves on November 7th for training in Mississippi. He reports to Guam in January after he comes home for some leave time here at home in December. My momand I discussed things and w called my son to let him know about my mom. He is very close to his grandma and would have been upset when he came home in December to find out she was sick. My son is also and MA in Bagor and is also serving with the Marines. He will be mobie security forces when he goes to Guam.
