About me:
I am from Pearl Mississippi. I am engaged to a wonderful man. I have a daughter that is married and 2 beautiful granddaughters. My son Josh is in the navy.I am so proud of him. He is now getting ready for his first duty station in Guam!!!!!!!!!!!
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To Let him know how proud I am of Him and to let him know that I support him in everything he does and he can do anything that he sets out to do
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Another day has come and gone,
I need a reason to go on,
Tell me that you' re coming home
Tell me that you're not alone

Tell me son, that you're happy,
sailing on the seas
Don't you miss being home,
lounging in your jeans?

I shake myself, and to God I pray,
that you make it thru, another day
It s so hard to watch your baby grow,
I worry , that you're in danger
But to God and his angels, your momma prays,
to them, you are no stranger.

Your good friend Jake says he' s doing well
He sends his love, from florida its hot as hell
He misses you, and so do I,
His momma fights the urge to cry.

I' m a sailors mom, and I'm doing fine
You've taught me to be brave
Just sometimes, my boy , my precious son,
the fear comes in a wave.

I m sorry, that you heard me cry,
I never got to explain,
I stubbed my toe, really hard and was crying from pain.

A sailors mom almost never cries,
We stand strong and tall
If our baby boys can do all this,
then you know that we can t fall

Your momma here, is doing fine
as well as I can be.
I' m feeling better every day,
'cause of the pride you've given me

So you got a medal, for shooting your gun!!
I knew you 'd be the best
I wrote and called just everyone,
North, South, East and West.

I am so proud of you, my wonderful son
And, a tear in my eye, you 'll never see,
You' ve made me strong, you;ve make me proud
As proud as a momma can be

Forgive me, my baby,
That day i sounded bad,
My back, it probably hurt
Because my you know, my son, my world
You have never made me sad.

A sailors Mom, I am,
A sailors Mom, I'll be
Until the day, my baby boy
Comes sailing home to me

October 16th Update

Well Josh has been gone for 4 days not including Sunday. I have received 4 emails and 2 phone calls. He is doing great and loving Guam. He said that it rains there everyday but, you can see it coming and you can run for cover. It thinks it is cool that he is up there and we are all back home sleeping. LOL . Not much going on with him right now

My Sailor is home for a visit

Well My Sailor came home Last Thursday. I drove to Memphis to pick him up at the airport and it was so good to be able to see him again. He will be here until around the 12th of October then off to Guam. He will be there for about 2 years or so. I have added the new photos of him when he went to see his sister. Hope you all have a great week

Hugs

Hey--have you found any time to rest? I've been baking all day, using an old family spritz cookie recipe. Our sailor called tonight so that was a big treat! He said it was hot in S. Carolina, and they turned off the air in his training unit. Yuck. Otherwise, all is ok. He goes on days for a week, so maybe seeing his bride will be a big improvement.

Submitting Recipe - Is there a special link for that?
Scallops a la Barbara
I do tend to improvise, but I believe this is how I made the scallops tonight. (measurements are approximate)
2.5 lbs sea scallops ( for 7 people, some left over)
2 shallots (I have used garlic and onion in past, both work well) minced.
2 Tbsp (or so) olive oil
2 Tbsp (or so) butter
Salt
Parsley
About 2 oz Dry Sherry wine
Lemon

Mince shallots, or press garlic and mince onions. Salt scallops, set aside. Heat olive oil in skillet, when oil is hot, add butter. Add shallots and cook until transparent. Remove from pan.
Leaving some oil mixture in pan, sear scallops in hot skillet, turn and sear other side.
When scallops start to appear a little brown add parsley, and lemon, scallops will begin to loose their pinky color and appear whitish, return the butter shallot mixture to pan. Saute’ a few minutes then, then almost done, add sherry wine. Cook another few minutes. Serve warm.
