Congratulations Mary! I agree with you. We do all have warriors. One of Kenny's great Uncles was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked and he lived to tell us all about it while we were growing up. ...

Hi Arwen, I'm not worried about Kenny going to Boot Camp because I am a retired military wife. Spent 20 years in the Air Force with my husband. We had 2 daughters during that time, but Kenny didn'...

I am scared that my son will end up in Iraq. My husband was in VietNam and it was the longest and scariest year or my life, but he was in the AirForce. I think the Army & Marines are more apt to be in the danger zones. Of couse, here at home you n...

This is so funny. I guess we all get giddy about the Navy. Of course we have a Navy tag on the car. Every time I see something with Navy on it, I buy it. So far we have the tag, several Tshirts, a cap a note book and my daughter bought him a Navy ...

from what I have been told, they can fill out a form that will put them on a waiting list. Unless he is in a specialized field, he may want to do this. If someone is not accepted it will push his date up. Have him talk to his recruiter about signi...

I will miss him so much but he is really ready. He would leave tomorrow if they asked him. He is beside himself. Kenny is a little older than most just going in. He has been in college for the last 6 years so he is 25 years old. He just made it in...

Hi Min, They called my son in August and wanted him to come in September for Nuke but at the time, he wasn't sure that he wanted to go into Nuke. Now his ship day is Feb. 8. If nothing changes for your son, it sounds as if they will be there toge...

Profile Information

About me:
I've been married for over 40 years. I have three children. Two females and one male. I also have four grandchildren, two girls and two boys. My husband retired from the United States Air Force in 1985. Kenny, our youngest was born just a few months before that. I love to cook and be around my family.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I haven't had much experience with the Navy. I did have an Uncle that was in the raid on Pearl Harbor and we grew up hearing about the Navy from him. I am glad that my son has picked the navy. He is the only one of our children that did not have the chance to travel.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Linda, Just have you on my mind and wonder how things are going for you. No change here....still in a wait mode. Jonathan finally found a job. He'll be working full time in a factory -- third shift, ugh! -- until he can become a Nuke. Sandy

Linda, You are very welcome. I know it helped me to see where my sailor would be living. We get to go to Goose Creek on Nov. 20 for Power School graduation. Can't wait to see Jeff. He may get to come home for leave after grad but that is still up in the air. Talk to you soon. Pat

Hi Linda, We are still in a waiting mode here. No word yet on date for swearing in -- still waiting for waiver on that darn traffic ticket. Waiting, waiting, waiting.....I guess I'm supposed to learn patience. :-) Am happy to meet you.
