I was told that my NROTC son would be ranked ahead of the USNA grads, because his commissioning date would be earlier (my son will be commissioned in May and the USNA kids are commissioned in June).

Our son went to Benedictine and our daughter is at Deep Run in the IT center. We are re-zoned for Godwin but will remain at DRHS.

My son too was denied appointment to USNA, he did received a full NROTC scholarship to Carnegie Mellon. It was the BEST experience for him& us. Now 12 days from graduation & commissioning we are SO proud & excited for him. He has had the best of both worlds, College life & NROTC.
BLESS THEM ALL.

My son's major is Nuclear Engineering. Kay - My husband and I grew up in MD, so we know Frederick well. Paulette - I was also there for parents weekend and know we won't be able to make it to another one. How far are you from campus? We are 10 hrs away by car.

Hi Linda! Yes, our son Steffan will be at RPI next year. We are so excited! He really loved visiting there, and it's my husband's alma mater, so that makes it even more special. Hopefully we can all connect there at some point.

Hi Linda- I zapped my last comment since I used a last name- my apologies. Kara is on this end in the picture- almost the shortest one in the unit :) I don't think I have actually met you- we were there for parent's weekend but I didn't really meet that many parents. Kara is our oldest so all of this stuff is new to us. She just declared her major as Biomedical Engineering. How about Greg?

Hi Linda. I just read your comment on a NROTC thread. Our son got a NROTC scholarship, and has been assigned to Rensselaer, but hasn't heard from them yet. We live in the Frederick, MD area. RPI is near and dear to our heart since my husband went there, so it was quite something for the Navy to assign our son there. Hopefully we'll hear soon! Kay M.

Linda, I also live in the Richmond area, out in Goochland County. My son departs from Norfolk on Thursday and we are going to get to go and see him off. My husband is elated about getting a tour of the ship. Va. Tech was a great fit for my son and I know you probably feel the same was about yours.
