Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm still learning............. but my daughter has inner strength that overwelms me, as homesick and stressed out as she is she's trying her best,
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

i am so proud

Because I said so.../Georgia Rule...

Today has been another in a series of my rollercoster rides of emotional tidal waves, and what played over and over on the movie channels? Those 2 movies, both basically about meddling moms, who in the end prove to their daughters that, although they don't always agree they are still always there for each other, granted the gist of the movies are a far cry from each other, but still avails to the strings our daughters pull on our hearts, and then after that marathon the movie In the land of Women… Continue

Duh!! I can't believe this!!

When I read the blog post this morning a lightbulb went off in my head lol, I never told my fellow 4/25 moms about what I have captured for a life time on DVD(until they become as obsolete as VCRs that is) I have talked time and time over about the close bond between my 2 1/2 yr old niece and my daughter, and how my brother has always thought of Jasmine as his eldest daughter(even though he's only 10 yrs older than her) WELL....at the end of the dvd when they call liberty, guess what is shown FI… Continue

I'm still here

I watch this site grow daily... I am absolutely amazed at how fast it has grown!! Which is also 1 of the reasons that I have not blogged about my daughter, so many new mothers, wives and girlfriends out there, all the bundles of nerves that I was back in the beginning, waiting and watching the mail or for the phone to ring!But.... (isn't there always a but?), I have thought long and hard about posting this blog and have decided that it might be something that needs to be put out there, and I als… Continue

my PIR 4/25.........

Its taken me a few days to write and describe my time at PIR just b/c it seems like when I leave home EVERYTHING goes haywire!! Pir was awesome, I was able to inform my brother, parents and 2yr old niece what was happening etc, from the other moms who had been there b4 me, and it was every bit as spectacular as they described, the band was awesome, the flags were perfect, the singing was awesome, and best of all for those who weren't in good seats, they displayed it on 2 separate screens, so eve… Continue

Not gonna get a letter this week either....*sigh*

Jasmine earned an extra phone call today, and of course she used it to call my brother...she said she had finished her work early so they gave her a phone call as a reward, so i guess that means she's finally getting the hang of this navy stuff, he called me to see if i had gotten a call and i told him no, so he related his convo to me, the reason she didn't write any of us last week WAS b/c she had just talked to us on saturday, and figured that was good enough, he asked me what i had written h… Continue

Lisa - what a year it has been for many of us. Wow - an engaged daughter! With her beau being on a different ship and different deployments, it's not going to be easy and that may have alot to do with how much she is enjoying the Navy right now. It also could impact when and how they do the wedding, sometimes we just have to love them and wish the best for our children and know...they are always are children.

What ship did she get stationed on Lisa - I must have missed that note! Our son is doing good, he made me happy yesterday and woke me up at 5:30 am to tell me he is coming home for Memorial Day weekend. We haven't seen him in five months so he can wake me ANYTIME!!! LOL He is still in his C school and should gradute in August and then will be on a destroyer in either San Diego or Norfolk. Norfolk would be closer to home but we all know the Navy just doesn't listen to us moms when it comes to orders!!! LOL
Support your sister - she needs it greatly right now but ...try to stay in touch!

Hey Lisa, it's been too long. How are you and how is your sailor adjusting to Navy life? Our son is still in C school - should be seeing a ship come fall.

Hi Lisa: Welcome to our new group...as you can see we're still pretty small in number. We're moms of sailors who are going undesignated for various reasons...academics, poor decisions, unable to meet the standard of fittness required for a certain rate...but we are all still very PROUD of our children in the Navy. They have followed through on the committment they made when they joined. This isn't what any of us expected, but we're learning to live with it and help them through it. CMC Bowes has left an explanation r/t this status on the group site.

Hey girl, good to see you. Yep, momma cannot help her get out of a contract that is for sure but perhaps once she deploys she may enjoy life at sea - many do. There is an undesignated group here now too that you may want to check out. Just talked to our son, he is almost done with A school and goes Wednesday for his orders. He will be home for Christmas - pending his orders.

Hey Lisa - how's Jasmine doing? Can you believe it's been 9 months already since they went to bc? Where is she at now? Will you see her for Christmas? Our son is still in GL for A school - long program. hope you are well!

hey Lisa, welcome back. Quite the blog you posted, we are moms regardless of their mistakes. One thing though, if your daughter is a cutter, there is no way that she can get into the Navy. It just isn't allowed and it is a disquilifying factor that they will check into at Meps. The physical will show what she does, they may let her go to bootcamp, but from there, it will be a dq. Sorry to tell you that, but it will prevent a big heartache in the long run. Not sure about the Army or the Marines on that psychological issue. Best to talk with a honest recruiter if you can find one, when in doubt, look at the military standards,

It's true what you say ... wisdom comes with maturity, and not matter how much we tell them, or try to give them the benefit of our experience, they've got to learn their own lessons just like we did. I also understand what you mean, that not everything should be blogged about. I think they get flack for a lot of what we say. I will definitely keep Jasmine and your family in my prayers.

My sailor is doing great so far. He graduated from Sub School with distinction. He is now in ATT school. However, the best part is that we are very blessed that he is in CT, which is about 3 hours away from us. We have been able to see him every other weekend so far. We are actually picking him up tomorrow morning for the weekend. While it is very nice to have him leave a little at a time, so to speak, I have a feeling this will make it worse on me when he goes to his first station. We shall see.

It was so nice to hear from you Lisa! I feel that I can identify with you. My son does not like to hug either. It can be hurtful, but I know he loves me, just as I am sure you know Jasmine loves you. You have given her the world! Now they need to make it on their own. Please keep in touch.
