Happy Holidays!

Isn't it neat when the paperwork comes, makes everything seem so "real" doesn't it? We drove for 13 hours and I know how you feel! I'm sorry to hear that your mother won't be able to make the trip I know that Steven will understand, though. I pray that she has a great recovery. Adam was grad & go so we didn't get to spend the weekend with him. We actually got to GL late on Wednesday night and went to the Gurney Malls on Thursday afternoon and had our division meet and greet on Thursday night at Flanagan's. It was so neat to get to meet the ladies (and families) that we had been writing to for all those weeks! Too bad our sailors weren't there :( After PIR, we ate lunch with Adam at the Taco Bell in the NEX because he had to muster at 1 to get his things together for the airport. We met him about 4 at the O'Hare airport and were able to go up to the USO and visit with him there. His flight didn't leave until about 10 that night. Not what we had hoped to be able to do, but had no other choice. We were supposed to stay through Sat., but decided on Friday morning to go ahead and hit the road home since Adam wasn't there to spend time with. We did go into Chicago for a couple of hours, just so my husband could see Wriggly Field. We did eat breakfast at the Full Moon Cafe on Friday. It was probably the best breakfast I have ever had. Try to eat there, you'll love it. I see on here that lots of folks go to the Navy Pier in Chicago and also to Six Flags. Wish I had more tips for you. I know you will thoroughly enjoy your trip and getting to see your sailor! Give him a hug from all the Navy Moms!
Please make sure you read the paperwork that they send you pick a hotel that you can afford and ENJOY that sailor. Most of the time they want to just enjoy freedom have a good hot meal and relax. you will sooo love the ceremoney !!
please let me know if you have questions
Steven left for basic this morning. Our 7 year old is a bit upset about it. Do any of you have any advice on how I can help her accept this? Mom is doing fine, except for the inevitable tears that go with the goodbyes.
